    Running like crap in WIndows 7

    Hi

    I just switched from XP to Windows 7 (32bit). With the game settings the same as I had set in Windows XP, my FPS are easily 50% less. What gives?

    Exact same hardware. e8400 3.0ghz, 4GB Ram ATI 4850.

    The newest ATI graphics driver for your card is 10.7. They made a lot of improvements to them.

      Sorry, the "ATI Driver Ver: 8.753.0.0 " is what I got under driver tab in Device manager. It is the ATI Catalyst 10.7 that is installed. (It was the first thing I did after install Win 7 and updating.

      Anyone?

        I would say the drop is the DirectX version running. XP only does 9. If your card can run it, it will do 11. You can try setting it to 10 and see how it works.

            edit the C:\Users\your_name\Documents\BFBC2\settings.ini file.

            you can force the dx version there.
            also I would change these to false:
            Bloom=false
            HSAO=false
            "Crunch's First Officer"

              Well, I don't know what the problem was. I tried forcing the DX version as you posted above, but then the game would not launch anymore (even after setting back to auto and rebooting.) I ended up just reinstalling the game, and bingo... FPS back to normal.

              Figures.

                \\Hats off to them for sorting out ATI driver update through Steam, last time I did that manualy it worked\failed [10.5]

                This feature working for Nvidia users also?

                Not played any 3d, should be fixed [bsod the worst]

                I don't know about 8.7 older ATI but 10.4 work with win7x64 and 5series (stable\steam\all\games) (later driver only before more tests)

                have noticed some obscure fix logs for games no one plays lol no :/

                j/k that was Nvidia, hehe ... seem to have sacked the Marketing Dept LOL (not riders - fools of the bandwagon)

                Although AMD hats can't beat Intel\ATI<3

                Cos Intel hats are v fast

                some guys probably cold at 5g with dual 5970's :P - help!

                  I just got my new pc today and it's win 7 and the game runs sweet as, then again my specs are really good
