how can you tell when u have a lock?
(ie with CG - you get the white range numbers)
watched some vids
they just drag the cursor across the orange box and launch
this works at close range
at long range - I first thought there was a range limit
then got a couple kills when it was WAY across the map
(could not even see the ground)
but about 80% of the time - on long shots - it acts as though there is NO lock
so - what is the trick to getting a lock at long range ?

you don't lock like a CG does you basically just point the heli in the general direction, put the crosshair over it w/e and let it fly, missile will lock and guide itself

I can't remember the range, but it is limited I believe

basically when you blindfire the missile it drops like a stone, I have never tried it (as funnily enough have never tried to use it on a long range target) but I suppose you could try tipping the heli nose upward, firing the missile (in order to get most distance) and then see if it will lock on itself when it gets closer

but I don't think it would, but pretty much if you are strafe running a tracered tank, just fire it as you go over it, missile will do the rest

I have started to use it also as an unguided rock
makes HUGE ground effects explosions - esp destroys blgs
get LOTS of hit regs
and an occasional kill

thanks - learned 2 things in video
348 m max range (I was trying farther at times - when troops got dart locks for me)
and you can 'hook' the missile - will try in test server

yer I use it unguided all the time, just haven't tried any distance shots

its awesome when you get the hang of it, because it has good splash and power

hey
just tried the 'look away' shot from helo
works great!
I practiced for a few minutes in an empty server
then - what do you know
spawned into a live sever
and a tank was 'raping our main'
my son darted him
and I jumped in the helo
lined up the cursor for about 3 sec
then aimed the helo up about 45 degrees
(the tank was behind a bldg)
and the damn hell fire went right up then right down
(over the bldg)
and smoked the tank!

another great (new) tactic learned by reading the forums

Yeah, the hellfire missile is a little-used but really powerful weapon. Get a good engi darting tanks and you can wreak havoc from half way across the map with little exposure to risk.

Atacama conquest alt fire is a must imo, well in an Apache, if you are in the Mi28 you might as well dig your own brightly lit half blinded grave

get a good copilot, I usually fly with a friend on TS3 and you can nail every piece of armour

Cool video. I didn't even know that the heli had an alt fire. But that is probably because I have around 0 flying time in the heli. Also i think not alot of people know about the alt fire.

Many people know about the Alt fire but not many know about the flares. so far the only people i see using flares is my clan, me, and one random player.

we know about the flares - but it used to be 'broken'
and now that it works - it only has value if darted
wherein the alt fire ALWAYS has value
