Who has it and what are your impressions of the game so far and would you recommend the game to other RTS fans? I never played the first one but this one does look fun. Just not sure if I want to drop 60 dollars on it.

Re: Starcraft 2 ?
I have it. Havent played it very long, but I really like it. If you play it only for the multiplayer aspect or single player alone, I do not think it is worth the $60. Thats just my opinion, no hard feelings if you disagree. If you play both modes then it could be very well worth the $60.
I wasnt going to get it until the price dropped, but a friend purchased it that plays multiplayer, so I did since there is now someone else to play with/against. Otherwise I was going for the single player side of it.
Campaign:
If you liked the first one, you will love the second one. If you loved the first one, you're heart will explode from the joy of the second one. One warning though is that they are pulling a Half-Life on us where the end is not the end because there are two more games to come out finishing it.
Multiplayer:
A lot has changes and a lot has not. Not sure on it myself as I only have played some co-op. A few balancing changes but a lot of the strategy is the same. Zerg rush/carrier overloads are possible, but harder to pull off.
Overall, its very well polished and I havent had any issues with it. Its even better than when I previewed it in beta.

Re: Starcraft 2 ?
Played some MP, and a lot in Beta. MP side is significantly inferior to SCBW, but as a much easier and simplier game, its going to be liked by Western players. Its still much better than most RTS games out there, but its not nearly as good as SCBW.Comment

Re: Starcraft 2 ?
The manual disappointed me, it doesn't contain anything but system requirements and backstory.
There are ingame tutorials, but they don't even mention stuff like grouping units.
So far the game itself feels a lot like the original, a solid RTS but I havent yet seen anything fundamental new in the gameplay.
I havent gotten around to MP yet.
The orginal can be gotten for €15 as a digital download from www.blizzard.com, if you want to try the gameplay before spending €60Comment

Re: Starcraft 2 ?
There are several fundamental changes which alter the pace of the game. For example, you can have a very strong economy during the entire early to mid game (Ive seen people feed 3 factories and 4 rax off one base), its an all-in build, but not even close to SCBW all-in builds from one base. Then theres the ability to hotkey several buildings to just one key, which makes the whole macro part of the game "on the fly". And of course being able to hotkey the comm centre to a mineral patch so the SCV-s would be mining the second they come out.
A lot of these changes make Single Player portion very enjoyable, but the MP part has become to just who can win the first engagement (and first engagements take place before 5th minute.)Comment

Dont you feel that a RTS ought to have at least a complete documentation of the controls? I feels like they are trying to make the startegy guides mandatory purchases.
I finally found a list of the keys at http://www.starcraft2freaks.com/star...-hotkeys-list/, but it really should have been in the manual.Comment

I was surprised there was no tech tree.

Well, I found the online manual at http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/game/ and it is pretty good.Originally posted by VrekiI finally found a list of the keys at http://www.starcraft2freaks.com/star...-hotkeys-list/, but it really should have been in the manual.
So I guess my only remaining complaint is that the game should have a big shiny "PRESS ME FOR MANUAL" button on the front page

Thanks Vreki,
I was meaning with the game that you can hold, but that works also.

These days they're even using "green" packaging that is mostly holes. Flimsy and all that. Makes sense. Entertainment media is supposed to be disposable now. Consume it and trash it. They've extended it into PC games, even though we almost NEVER trash it or try to sell it. Until recently I still had Spear of Destiny floppies. But I tried to install the game on an old PIII box with Windows 95 on it and the disks had become demagnitized, had nothing on them but some corrupted folders. So they were useless. I think I still have the .wad files around somewhere to use in a DOSbox...Comment

I found an original (albeit, mac version) of sim city 2000 at an opshop recently. I mainly bought it as a trophy, due to me not having access to a floppy disc drive, let alone a mac.Comment
