Lets just hope that they have a dedicated team just for the pc version and it is nothing like the console versions.

Re: Console and PC versions completely different products?
So if the consoles only support DX9, does that mean it's not going to be out until the next gen of consoles comes out (what's the current estimate on that - 2012?)?
Moar infos needed DICE. I'd save up the coin to upgrade my rig for 'BF3', I will not, however, save up for 'BF:BC3'.

Re: Console and PC versions completely different products?
Its not impossible that BF3 will be on Frostbite 1.5 for console and 2.0 for PC. Its also not impossible that the PC specs are different from the console specs because they are turning things up, like player server count in BC2.
Way in the past (of two years ago) developers used to make two different types of the "same" game for PC and console. Close enough to the same, but not. Kinda like CoD4 and W@W or Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Granted the BF2:MC was actually a very different game, but you get the idea.
Now, will this happen with BF3? Only DICE knows.

Re: Console and PC versions completely different products?
The thing that makes me sad is we are all wishing for the PC version to be different, but honestly how many companies especially during these financial times are going to do that? If I had to make a solid prediction it would be that the PC version will have better graphics, and perhaps more players online, but that's really all I can imagine. If BFBC2 wouldn't add prone because of balancing issues why would BF3, the very same balance issues will probably exist. Playing BC2, yes the game is amazing but I hate standing up all the time its so unrealistic and stupid. BC2 is probably a taste of what is to come for bf3. It's pathetic that these companies are following MW2 path, to us as a PC gamer, we see BF2 and we see a mastered, golden game but they see MW2's billion dollar profit and that's all they care about. Sorry for the rant, here's to hoping im dead wrong !

Re: Console and PC versions completely different products?
You could be correct, but like you said, "a taste". MW2 did not have lean and Black ops not only has lean back, but a diving prone. The Bad Company series never had prone or lean. DICE kept saying that it is not a Battlefield game in the same since as Battlefield 2, but a break away from it.

I think you'll find both PS3 and 360 are both DX10, NOT DX9, so they will be the same game, essentially, but im sure there will be some difference, like graphicly, more players online, sure, couldn't guess beyond that...

They use PSGL and DirectX 9.0c, and both have hardware from the DX9 generation.

it doesnt make sense that the 360 is DX10, DX10 only came out in like 2007, whereas the 360 has been around since 2005

Re: Console and PC versions completely different products?
Hell I was 11 and still living in NZ when it came out... and BF2 came out in the same year too. So thats why my graphics card I can still run most current gen games at relatively high levels, despite using a ATI-MSI 5570 which is considered entry level...
Wow console gaming is really screwing progress in many respects. Doesnt mean we should completely outlaw it, though.
