zh1nt0 has mentioned he has been on the hunt for answers for us.

zh1nt0 is on the case. Currently setting up the biggest "Questions and Answers" post with over 50-60 questions from topics in the forums. Takes some time to answer so I think it will be up next week.

He also mentions definitively that mod tools are not coming.

As said many times modding tools are not coming. Frostbite just isn't ready for a modding tool yet.

This is despite seemingly leaked images of a very usable editor.





Perhaps DICE underestimates the abilities of the PC communities veteran mod developers. Although the possibility of the images being fakes can't be ruled out completely.

Dice must have in-house tools for development, but IIRC they've said there are too many steps and too many commercial apps involved to release them to the community. Bottom line is we ain't getting them tho.

Commercial tools are always needed. You can't model or texture in the BF2Editor.

This could open up alot of possible fun if it ever happened. Dice wanting mods is doubtful though.
