    render ahead limit value?

what is the latest thinking? 0, 1, 2 or 3
I avg 15-20 fps on small server
    (maybe 30 on EMPTY server)
and often under 10-fps in heavy action/smoke/dust/etc
    have 4gb ram
    3.2 dual core
    8800 oc
(but I think my real bottle neck is the bus speed)
so, what number should I use in render ahead??

Why don't you just try 0/1/2/3 and see what the performance is like?

What settings are you running it at?? make sure AA, bloom and HBAO are off. Can you overclock/some more your processor as that will amek a difference as well.

Picking up a second hand 260GTX will make a huge difference as well.

hope u didnt really write 19800 becuase it should be 1980.

I want to be able to see further accross the map so render 3 is best?no?

Judging by the speed of your CPU it is most likely an older "low" budget Intel Pentium dual core. The thing holding you back is your CPU entirely because all Pentium dual core CPUs are junk and slow. It's bad enough that BFBC2 just doesn't run well at all on dual core CPUs, but you have one of the worst dual core CPUs available. Getting a GTX260 will not help you nearly as much as getting a new motherboard and cheap quad core cpu. You really need a quad core to play BFBC2 well. Ifyou keep the DDR2 memory you have now, you can expect to pay $150-$180 for an Athlon II X4 (which would double your fps) and motherboard that supports DDR2 or you can also get one that supports both DDR2 and DDR3 ram.

I'm starting to think something else may be wrong with your system.

My wife is running BFBC2 just fine on low settings with a few mediums at 1600x1200.

                Her PC:
                8800GTS 512MB
                2GB DDR2
                E6300 @ 2.8GHz
                Win7 64bit

She drops to 25 or so in the worst mortar strikes/scripted airstrikes.

And yeah, I did give my wife a crappy budget Pentium Dual Core. It was better than her old 4200X2 that she had before! We got the E6300 with a GIGABYTE Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard for ~$80 (total!) from Fry's. Budget win.

You should use 2 and be sure your video card drivers are also set to the same.

                    Re: render ahead limit value?

yea i read somewhere changing the ini file setting doesn't matter if you don't do the same in your video card control panel.

dunno if it's true though. i use 2 for both. i believe defeault in the ini file was 2, but in nvidia control panel it was 3.

yes it still pisses me off the fact i can run games like crysis/farcry2 and many many others on HIGH full settings, but bfbc2 i lag with low settings... My pc is 4gb ram 2.6 dualcore nvidia 130m GT 1gb . and i still lag like hell in bfbc2.
                        Any solutions?
Dragon if you find something that helps you i will be very pleased to know about.

just did a 15 min reply - and poof - gone
                          will redo it later
but my new trick is set the FOV to 35
that doubled my FPS (ON foot)
now avg about 20 in game

NO WAY - (CAN POSSIBLY get shanked more than I do now ! - NO WAY:bonk:)

seriously - with a fps of 5-10 in close combat - u can kill me anyway u want
even a poke in the eye :dead:
since I changed to 35 (today)
I actually got about50 kills on foot
some even in close qtrs = NEVER could do that before
