I'm sorry, I just don't understand...if all this content is on the DVD already, why do they release them piecemeal? It's not like they're charging for it...why not just let us play all maps Rush or all maps Conquest right out of the gate? Is it so when we get bored playing the original 4 Conquest maps they 'release' another one so people will stop clamouring for new maps so soon? Is this really supposed to fool anyone? Are we all just a big socialogy experiment here?

OK ok, no. Its marketing. Thats all. How can DICE say they are giving free content without lots of extra labor involved? By locking the game down and releasing it pieces at a time.

Im not saying DICE isnt doing anything. They are making some huge patches to fix bugs and have altered some maps as well, not to mention "game balance" changes. They are also working on BC2:Vietnam (From now on BC2:V). So by releasing this "free" content, they can say they are doing so for free because "technically" they are. Just like new maps. There are no new maps, but "technically" they are new to the mode they are introduced in. Nevermind that they are not new at all and have been part of the game since release, just locked up.

Besides, in the first month people complained they wanted new maps or the game is going to die. Gamers ALWAYS say that. Do the numbers fall? Yes. Enough to kill this game? No. Here we are at month 5/6 and its still very strong. So anyway, DICE releases maps and what happens? 24/7 Karkand/Wake/Gibraltar anyway and all other maps and map packs are thrown away.

This is all just my take on it. Its what I see and I am sure you all do as well.

Well to that point, at least I can say I don't see an abundance of 24/7 one-map servers like BF2/BF2142 had. When I want a full rotation of Conquest maps there are several servers to choose from and that's pretty cool. I guess that also means that there will be a good selection of BC2:V servers for a while since any actual *new* content is good. Plus, BC2 doesn't really have a 'Karkand' map that people seem to toss themselves off over.

I've seen a couple of Arica Harbor Conquest 24/7 servers. That seems to be the closest thing to Karkand I/O in BFBC2.

The only reason there are not many 24/7 maps is because no map is really worthy of being played 24/7. Compare that to Karkand, Mashtuur, Wake, Oman etc.

Say what you want - new maps, unlocked content, whatever - bottom line, it's something new.

How many games have you got rotting on your bookshelf that the designers didn't do jack squat for once it was released? Hell, I've got games that didnt' work out of the box, a patch was released that made it even worse, and the designers fell off the face of the earth after that.

Yeah, that is true. The console players are all complaining about all the free stuff PC players are getting and all the patches when console still needs fixes. They have been very POd for quite some time.

I'm so done with this game, seen it all, done it all. The one thing I can give credit to this game for is it looks nice and is fun for couple months and that's about it. It's laggy as hell and based on a weak gimmick "destructable environment" but in small *** maps that you'll be sick of after a few runs through. Conquest is way too small and Rush is boring as hell, not very balanced and teams are usually one-sided *** whoopings. I'm sure nelson in conquest will change my opinion.
