So apparently there is a server admin program that will allow you to kill players at whim. I joined a conquest server (to remain nameless) on the map Panama Canal. I was on US side and we had all the bases. I spawn at D point and run 3 feet and die. I noticed that as i was dying there was an admin message telling me to stop base raping??? I argue with the stupid admin for a minute and he says that's what i get for being a base raper. WTF? I just left the server rather than sit an argue with a moron.

So the question is, is this a violation of the ROE? Server admins should not be allowed to kill players as a means of enforcing server rules. Anyone else encounter a server doing this?

Spawning camping isn't through killing people like that seems a bit strange.
It would be hard to see as accepted, though I am not 100%.

1. Not a violation of RoE as they are enforcing a rule on their server.
2. Well actually they can, and its an effective deterrent as opposed to kicking say 10 players from the server.

The kill command doesnt add a death to your KDR if thats what you were wondering about

Yea I feel like this has happened to me before... just a random death out of absolutely no where.

I've done it once using Procon by accident. I meant to kick to make room for a member but the little radio button was left on kill instead of kick. Like Scinto says, it doesn't add deaths to your tally. And using as an admin tool instead of booting is a pretty solid idea actually.

well if it don't affect the KDR then i guess there is no harm. Sure is annoying though. I can imagine that servers that use this tactic don't stay populated for long.

Seems like another tool for bad server admins to abuse. I had just joined this server and was killed immediately upon spawning by the admin for base rape. Maybe some of these admins should play more and admin less.

A sensible clan will setup the admins so that only a few can use the kill command as it can also be used to kill an entire team or everyone on the server through wolfcon atleast.

All the admin hate makes me laugh. I don't always play on our clan servers, in fact I often don't as I'm not a fan of rush mode and our people in general are. I spend 75% of time on other clan's servers and have never seen an incident of admin abuse. Most go out of their way to promote good game play. Server admins that constantly stack the teams, or abuse any admin rights they might have quickly end up with empty servers. We've had people post in our Complaints forums raging about abuse. A quick check of the logs (factual information FTW) shows that they were either verbally abusing other players, or breaking a server rule like driving around a main spawn with a MBT, etc).

I've been playing since 1942 and I can count on 1 hand the times I've been kicked/banned for being too good, lucky shots, whatever it is that "abusive admins" supposedly get their panties in a bunch over.

I'm sure it happens. I know it does. But not to the extent that people love to get all worked uip over.

I agree with this. Every time Ive been banned has been for the same reasons of haxusation. Every time I looked into a complaint of abuse, the abuse was on the complainer.

Besides, isnt the point of dedicated servers so you can select where you play and have a good gaming experience? If you dont have a lot of gaming servers in your area, P2P isnt going to help you much either.

My own feelings on this is if you have a valid complaint and want to play on that server, you take it up with the clan/server operator to look into it and resolve it. If they are too immature to do so, you probably shouldnt be wasting your time and find a server that will appreciate you being there.

We use the kill command for a warning on our server. Only time we use it is when we have people base raping the un caps on Atacama. Next time they do it, it is a kick, if again, a ban. I find it works well. When abused i could see why people would complain. Luckily we use caution when selecting admins to prevent admin abuse.

I just hate the experience of taking a ban to the clan website, go through she said he said crap and get nothing done but get my entire clan labeled as hackers or whiners.

Happened in BF2142 over my "questionable [LOL]" gunship flying. Sigh, is covering from a flip that hard?

Bad admins will be bad admins no matter what tools they have. If you took away all the powers they could possibly abuse, they wouldn't be admins at all anymore.

It should be left in, they shouldn't take tools away from reasonable admins when the bad admins would just abuse another one of their powers.
