DICE blames new patch delay on strike on Romania!

Hey everyone, yep I'm still around.
Just to let you know the patch is currently sat in QA but due to some kind of striking in Romania we won't get results until tomorrow at the earliest with our server fixes.

Thats what we are waiting on at the minute to figure out where we are and when we can release.

Gave me a good laugh. 9/10 for being original

Lol? What could possibly happen in Romania to delay the QA?

Edit : ok, QA are now in Romania.

Yes i am sure that all internet connections are locked in one room in Romania. That also goes for all other modes of transportation as well. Luckily the strike ended on the 30th. Seems like the Romanians celebrate Memorial Day and took Monday off.

So QA is outsourced to Romania?
That actually explains a lot more than just the delay.

Well, maybe they are better then the Canadian division that was dissolved?

People who made that same statement were accused of being bigoted and/or racist on the EA UK forums...

I can accept "prejudiced", but that doesn't mean that I am wrong
Seriously though, my experience with outsourcing is that it is a great success at the board-meetings, but not so much with the remaining IT-staff that has to stitch the corpse together. Regardless of the country, there is the whole "lowest bidder" issue.

Oh, I know all about the "lowest bidder" factor. I'm in the US Army. There is a reason frag grenades have a 3-5 second fuse...

I have not played the game for over 3 weeks now because I am waiting on the new patch. I hope it brings life back into the game, I really do.

Wow. I guess they dont have remote access in Romania. That is some secure QA for sure if you cant make it into the building to do any testing.

This also explains how that Russian site always gets the information about the patches before anyone else releases information on it.

I can tell you that my company, which is a fortune 500 company does outsource some code development/QA/etc to India. And that India location, they only have dumb terminals and when they go in, they are not allowed to take in cell phones, thumb drives, anything. So, no RDP or VPN in? I can see them not having access because of security requirements.

                            Ontop of an obvious NDA.

We have an NDA with Combat Testing. We still test games at home rather than in an office. And these are betas not patches.
