Whatever floats your boat.... I don't mind what others think of my Carl/40mm use.

LOL I don't need to. That's actually the first thing I thought of. And now I think of it every time I'm killed by one!

This is really bad.I feel like I am playing bf2 when i use this gun.Almost afraid to run into enemies because I know half my bullets will miss.It just doesn't happen with any other gun i use.I still say this gun is broken.I don't know how,I don't know why.For me,it just is.I switched back to my pp 2000 and the difference is night and day.

In CQB situations are you aiming from the hip or scoping? I find that aiming from the hip with the VSS in a CQB situation is the only way to go. Glad to see another pp2k user on the boards! Its refreshing!

Thank God for the VSS. Finally a 'sniper rifle' I actually enjoy using. Being gimped in CQC in a game where most encounters are CQC is no fun. And thank God for being able to use shotguns as recon or I'd never have even unlocked the VSS. :p

I think VSS should have two more mags. Three mangs are too few, and VSS isn't really fit for sniping. Without ammo spec it runs out too fast, and one can't have 4x or RDS with ammo spec, which beat the reason to use VSS as run-n-gun weapon.

Def needs more ammo for that baby. It eats rounds extremely fast.

                      Re: vss issue

I've recently hit Gold with the VSS and have no intention of going back to it. If it wasn't for the INSANE amount of deviation the gun suffers from in sustained fire, it would be an incredibly useful gun with the 4x or red dot attachment.

Stand ONE METER away from a wall and empty a magazine. Look at the pattern on the wall and tell me that's even remotely realistic. Hell, even burst fire doesn't seem to work all that well with the VSS. It's pretty pathetic that it works better unscoped in CQB.

So, essentially... you can't sustain fire and can't burst fire people reliably. My final question: why use it, then??

You might as well just slap on a red dot on an M24, use Magnum ammo and call it a day. Your chance of killing people will be roughly the same, anyway...

You don't need to use the 4x on the VSS.

Just got my Platinum with the VSS today. (It's an awesome CQB gun, but also a good counter-sniper gun). Just take slow, single shots to the enemy head from far and they will go down with ~3 hits.

                          Re: vss issue

Why bother with an inferior platform? The M24 will do the same job in 1 shot, and I know damn well that random deviation won't throw off my shot.

But this is all academic... I don't intend on performing long-range sniping anymore. I'm the kind of recon that uses a red dot and engages at close-moderate ranges.

I should've been more specific: I use 1-hit kill SRs with a red dot at close and medium ranges. Makes it challenging... and if I miss, I pay for it.

It's even more challenging after the patch. The OSK distance is a bit shorter.

Yeah, it's DICE's way of telling us to stop using bolt action rifles. Oh well, no matter... I have gold on all of the sniper rifles, so my Recon class now permanently sports the Saiga.
