lase dart - does it matter where you place on armor

as armor is weaker in the side/back
is it better to hit side/back with dart????

    and/or

if pal hits armor in back with dart
but you shoot tank from front (with dart lock on)

    is there a multiplier??

First of all; it's called the "Tracer dart".

It doesn't matter where you tag the armor, it just depends on which way the tank is facing. So if you're facing it's rear armor, which is weaker; you'll hit the rear armor.

Just remember, aim at the red box until you see a red square with a range marker, i.e. "103m" Then you can aim WHEREVER you want for 4 seconds before it unlocks and you have to lock onto it again. So use this technique to aim backwards and up to make it like a javelin shot so it hits weaker armor areas from a better angle.

To be honest, tracer darts are only useful for helicopters and long range RPG shooting. If it's long range, sometimes the tank has time to get behind some sort of cover. Also, range and angle of hitting your target determine the damage.

Wait till the tank gets into an urban area where it's most vulnerable.

      got it - ty

      been having fun with darts
      especially on Atacama Desert
this tanker kept driving around the hill
      (A or C)
      and pounding the buildings . . .
I got a dart into him
and even though I could never "see" him again - I could get a lock and then shoot straight UP
      and got hits/kills every time:shoot:

Check out some of the videos in the media section. There are a couple good ones on tracer darts, hellfires, etc.

The problems I find with Tracer darts are the locking. I have trouble locking on to them.

do u mean locking on with your AT weapon?
zoom, aim and hold site onto orange box
takes a few seconds - and when you see the white range numbers - YOU HAVE LOCK !

If you place the dart on a part of the tank that can fall off (eg you tag the side of the tank on the panels which can fall off), a rocket hitting that part will cause the dart to fall off too, therefore having no more lockability.

I tag the turret or under it.

Sometimes even with the white numbers appear, my rockets fly straight into the sky and my friends laugh their head off beside me.

I seem to need a direct lock, not a indirect lock.

Same here, my rockets always fly straight even after locking on.

I have only ever once managed to actually successfully have my rocket travel to my dart and it was an epic moment. I was hauled up in a building and outside the window there was a tank so i tracer darted it and then locked on, firing my round through the window and getting the kill

I need to actually see the TARGET in my line of sight, not behind the wall with the red square.

how odd = I mostly miss with everything
EXCEPT the AT with Dart vs armor

once I get a dart to stick
(maybe 80-90% if less than 50 meters? and 50-50 if farther)
then just zoom and aim with the AT (RPG or Gustav) at the orange box
until you see the white range numbers
THEN - if you SEE the target - just shoot
if it (target) gets hidden behind a wall or hill or bldg or whatever
right after you get the range lock - SNAP the weapon almost straight up
and shoot (within 4 seconds !)
I have never missed that way - and if I can do it - ANYONE CAN!

AT4 does not support the tracer dart, only RPG7 and Gustav M2.

AT4 is manual lock, after you fire, you manually guide the projectile like the stationary AT.

yep = that is why I said RPG or Gustav
