What do these numbers mean?

Maybe I just haven't noticed this before, but when I was playing yesterday I began seeing random numbers off to the right of my kill messages. They almost seem like some kind of counter, but I have no idea what they indicate.

Do the numbers indicate the points you're scoring? Have they always been there? I haven't noticed them before.

They indicate total points from an action. So for example if you throw a health pack down, it will go up 20, 40, 60 etc etc etc (squad heals that it). The same happens with kills, it should show up 50 for the kill then go up for the additional requirements you meet like + points for Savior Kill, Avenger Kill, Double Kill etc etc etc.

They went all MW2 on it..... At least it's not all "in your face" though!

It's awesome when you destroy a tank with C4 or a rocket; and it has passengers. It starts:

Vehicle damage... 50
Vehicle destruction +100... 150
Killing an enemy... +50... 200
Killing an enemy... +50... 250
Oh look... double kill... +100... 350

if it's with C4, then it adds Kill with C4 +50, and if there is another; +50 more I always read it like those credit card commercials:

-Plastic Explosive ordinance... $350.00 USD
-Gillie Suit... $300.00 USD
-Remote detonator... #50 USD...
-Blowing the hell up of a fully loaded Blackhawk as it nears the Mcomms... PRICELESS.
