This is according to the in game information. For ex, XMP8 does more damage than SCAR L does.
BUt according to the link we got from support page, XMP8 does less damage.

This is a bug i have noticed too, its because you are comparing an SMG to an AR. The guns only compare to those guns in the same category. -
