Anybody using the Thompson?

I finally figured out how to access those limited edition/vip/veteran/mickey mouse club/whatever unlocks and started using the Thompson a bit yesterday.

What's the deal? I seem to recall someone around here saying that it was a bringer of death or something along those lines.

For me, I lost every single CQB engagement with the thing. In many cases I was firing well before the bad guy fired.

After I went 0-5 with the thing, I changed to something else.

I liked it in the Beta, but the muzzle flash in the final version makes it impossible to aim.

Liked it in the Beta, but not so much in the final release. So many better guns out there than the Thompson.

I hardly ever do full auto, I usually "click" the mouse constantly which I find to make weapons more accurate so the Thompson's good fire rate means nothing to me. I prefer the G3 over the Thompson for an "Any Class" gun choice.

Exactly. Thats was what i was just about to say. in beta we could even say it was a OP weapon but now its just not that powerfull

Compared to the other options avail for every class, I can only see if being remote usefull for recon or medic if you dont want to use a machine gun or sniper rifle, for engy and assault they simply have much better weapons.

I never use it, completely impractical. I sure hate when I get killed in a firefight with it. Or a guy snipes me with one.

I would say Thompson is a good solid beginner class SMG.

I used it when I was recon and when I was engineer because the default guns are too weak against players who higher tier unlocks.

Yeah, once you unlock the upper level weapons, the Tommy just doesnt stand up to them. Its a shame too since its caliber is gigantic compared to some of the other guns.

I'm glad the Colt 1911 is VERY USEFUL!

Even as medic, I draw out in situations where I can't crouch or stand still.

I used it to level recon until I got the g3, as I can't stand the sniper rifles.

I have a penchant for using it when I go Engineer. I acknowledge that it sucks, but I just like it for some reason. Oddly enough, when I got the silver star with the Thompson, it leveled me up and I unlocked...the Thompson!
