Confused about what edition I have and DLC

I wonder if anyone could help. I pre-ordered BC2 from play.com. I got a beta code from them but when the game arrived, it was not the Limited Edition. I had no extra "VIP" code bar the cd-key. I hear I needed a "VIP" code to unlock certain maps, is this true?

Also, there is new DLC coming the 30th for those with the "VIP" code. Does this mean I either miss out or have to buy it?

From what i gather, the "VIP" was for new copies of the game, nothing to do with the limited edition.

So basically anyone who bought the game on release is entitled to the free DLC.

Someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure thats it.

Was I meant to recieve an extra key to unlock this day 1 DLC or does it just automatically download when you first tie the CD-Key to your EA Account?

You do not need a special key to gain VIP status.
The LE unlocks requires a redeem code, but they can all be unlocked the usual way too.

i was under the impression that the PC version allready had the 1st Day dlc installed

i may be wrong

i also ordered from play.com, got my beta key, but when it arrived there was no other code.

Game in the UK had the limited edition version don't know if anywhere else had it. It came with the relevant unlocks, the sheet with the unlock code on doesn't mention anything about being "VIP" though.

You all are correct.

If you purchased the LE edition (or did get it) then you received a second code to unlock equipment that will be unlocked anyway down the road.

If you purchased your game new, then you are in the magical VIP club for PC without any other codes. The maps automatically download for PC people via the automated update system. From day 1, those maps should have been downloaded.

For Console people, if I understand correctly, they needed another code to download the DLC.

so you are or aren't a VIP member if you pre-ordered for PC (via steam/gamestop/play.com)?

Everybody that has the PC version is a VIP member.
It is impossible to sell the PC version used since it will be tied to a EA account.

Only console players that buy the game second hand need to worry.
