    Regarding balance

Without delving into any balance issues in bc2 i am wondering if Dice will be reluctant to touch the game balance wise because it is out on consoles as well. Can the console versions even be altered? What was the situation with bc1?

    Re: Regarding balance

From what I understand, the PC version was "ported", for lack of a better word, by a separate group of people. They have already made a number of changes to adapt it to the PC platform (which I am thankful by the way), so there is no reason why they couldn't change specific aspects of it on every platform. But will they, that's another question. I don't think many players would play this game on multiple platforms, so making changes to one platform shouldn't really effect the player base on another platform.

      Re: Regarding balance

Console games on this generation can be patched, but developing patches is more complicated than on PC since even tough you only deal with one hardware configuration, there are several revisions to the platform. Some xbox don't have a hard drive, newer hard disk-less xbox360 have some internal memory, but cannot hold a lot of info; PS3 had backwards compatibility with PS2, now it doesn't, the PS3 slim lacks some features the early builds had.

      So it's a bit tricky.

Now, I don't think the game needs refining on the balance except for graphical bugs, ike the bloom on russian equipment, but I don't think we'll see rate of fire or damage nerf/increase as often as with previous bf games.

I don't see why we won't see patches relating to balance issues, but I really doubt they care about it right now considering the mess there is to clear up with bugs and ea master servers.

cos so far there aren't blatant balance issues like in previous games?

Gah. No it wasn't. The game was made on the PC, for the PC.

Stop saying its a port! This is a PC game, even if it has a few console-ish tendencies.

I do agree that this game needs an auto balance though, the amount of games that end up with people spawn raping the **** out of a team with 4 players when we have 16 is just lazy on Dices part.

So by that logic, all games made for consoles are PC games because they are all made on a PC? Also, Bad Company 1 was made for the consoles exclusively. Bad Company 2 is an continuation of that game and thus they developed it mainly for consoles. They had to make changes to make it work on the PC and make it work well.

DICE knows how to make a really good PC game given their history. If this game is an attempt to continue that tradition, then to to quote their game... "EPIC FAIL" (slight exaggeration though).

Mmmm, no. At no time we were promised a BF2 sequel of any sorts, just a BC2 game developed with the PC platform in mind and not a direct port. so it can't fail at something it was never meant to succeed at. However, I agree that DICE has better step up to the challenge andcode in more PC centric features.

If its a port, imo its one of the best ports there is.
