    Tips for a Sniper

Anyone have any tips? I want to unlock the M95. Why would anyone use the other guns when they are weaker than the one you start with.

The M95 has the advantage of being able to penetrate thicker objects and is able to shoots through bullet proof glass (choppers for instance), it can also shoot down UAV's in 1 hit.

If I was to give out any advice, it would be to try and adapt a "combat sniper" role into your gameplay. Just because you are a sniper doesn't mean you should sit back and get a kill every 3 minutes, try and use the rifles at medium range. If you can master this style of play, playing recon becomes very rewarding mainly because things like C-4 and Motion Sensors become more usable due to the positioning you will be put in (nearer to the action, nearer to enemies to put mm's near and nearer to vehilces to blow up)!

And another thing, if you want to play recon without playing a sniper role, bring out a shotgun or the M1A1, the recon class has quite powerful team support with motion sensors and mortar/c4 for targets.

The weaker rifles are semiautomatic and clip fed instead of bolt action; a couple of them are silenced and don't leave a tracer rail, are easier to fire unscoped and generally have another role aside from getting headshots.

I'm not a good sniper, but I can give you combat recon tips: abuse your motion sensor and spot everything you have.

Bullets are affected by gravity in this game, ie: over a really long distance, the bullet will "drop" noticeably and thus you have to compensate for this before you shoot; also bullets are "real" this time around, and they need time to reach their targets; maximum distance shots need you to compensate for sway, travel time and bullet drop; so you have to aim to where the target will be, not where it is.

That's the point, if headshots is what we do, then a weaker gun or semi-auto with a lot of ammunition will get you more headshots than a bolt action.

In addition, if you miss, you do not need to unzoom to fiddle with the gun, you can just prepare for the next shot.

Bullet drop -> depends on your scope magnification, 4x and 12x needs to be compensated differently. I use BF2 bullet drop, seems to be working.

Moving targets: Depends on speed and bullet drop, lead ahead of them and FIRE BEFORE THEY ARE DEAD ON IN THE CROSSHAIR.

            Personal feel thing.

Oh and know how to no scope up close and draw your pistol immediately.

Be a combat sniper and move just behind the front lines. All the enemies will shoot your team mates and you can then pick them off with easy headshots. M21 with stock scope is my choice of rifle on close ranges supported by c4 whoring and WWII pistol.

With this game the best tip to be a sniper is keep moving and dont treat the frontline as a place you shouldnt be. This game is amazing for aggressive snipers.

The Ghillie suit makes you near invisible, so don't be afraid to stand out in the open. Nobody will notice you.

I can't play recon with a sniper rifle, every time I take the saiga I just forced myself to play with a sniper rifle yesterday to unlock some pins. It's true that with a ghillie suit you blend well with the vegetation, I had a guy trying to kill me with a Bradley on Panama, he was firing everywhere even though I was close to him (didn't had C4 anymore). I tried the qbu88 after that but it's a ****ty sniper rifle, I'll stick with the m24 for now.

I too noticed that the bullet drop is very similar to BF2.

There are many noobs trying to snipe/t00b/rpg from rooftops making them visible against the sky, while you are invisible to them if you are far enough away, provided you are not highlighted against the sky yourself, or have a solid object behind you.

No-scoping the M24 is a great way to counter knife rushers as it is a one-hit-kill within a few meters.
