Punkbuster installed but game not recongizing it

BFBC2 keeps telling me I need to have punkbuster installed to join servers with punkbuster enabled. I have it installed, and I've tried reinstalling it to no luck. Any ideas?

PB should run a selftest when you install it. Does that succeed?

Also, the steam version of the game does not match with the PBSETUP application and you have to manually add it.

AND

I used the PBSETUP program and it said it updated the game, but I was still getting disconnects. I manually updated each file and that corrected the problem.

I'm thinking pb must of done some kind of update and there is a mismatch with the server version causing kicks. A bunch of people I know all started getting kicked by pb yesterday for pb errors.
