Re: EA disconnects, and Baza statements
I read it as "currently". So there are now more players in BC2 than in BF2.Originally posted by Lordsethonanhttp://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/b...ct-status.html
Apparently the current BC2 users are more than BF2 users; either at launch, or for lifetime, post is not clear wich. -
Re: EA disconnects, and Baza statements
Do we have any figures on how many BF2 players are playing nowadays? Cos beta for BC2 had over 3 million downloads. I think it's safe to assume it has already sold close to a million copies among the different vendors for PCComment

Re: EA disconnects, and Baza statements
10,829, according to http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?game=bf2
But they havent got BC2 up yet, and we need that to be able to compare.Comment

Re: EA disconnects, and Baza statements
I just got a search for a bit over 9 thousand people, guess it's not peak time. I sincerely doubt 20k people can crash a whole network for EA, must be more than that.Comment

The EA and DICE representatives say they are working on it so people should stop complaining. Its not like they wanted this to happen.Comment

Of course they didn't want this, but they still should have anticipated higher network traffic.Originally posted by VoraciousBearThe EA and DICE representatives say they are working on it so people should stop complaining. Its not like they wanted this to happen.
They did significant marketing, have a strong, battlefield hungry PC crowd, and really set this game up to be the MW2 killer.Comment

Wrong, wrong, wrong.Originally posted by VoraciousBearThe EA and DICE representatives say they are working on it so people should stop complaining. Its not like they wanted this to happen.
They had:- A huge beta
- years of experience
- Knowledge of the number of copies shipped and presold
- A staggered release
And yet they still manage to SNAFU it. Of the few rounds I played that didn't crash, half of those was on Port Valdez. That also happens to be the only map that was available for public testing on the PC. I think that says something about their internal QC.
Somewhere in EA a bean-counter weighed the consequences against the expenses and decided that it was "good enough". But it isn't.Comment

Re: EA disconnects, and Baza statements
Yes we are on the fifth day of release, it's about time they realized this game was huge and start treating it like the success it is, before it turns into a failure of, dare I use the word, epic proportions.
I can play, but mostly on UK servers and I live in america, I have to endure lagfests to play; m ind you, even on 200 ping the gamei s very playable, but half the time I die because I am not firing when I'm really firing.Comment

Re: EA disconnects, and Baza statements
Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday it was pretty bad. However it seemed to become fairly stable Friday and today. The EA servers were up and down but when they were up the servers weren't dropping me and my friends like it was earlier in the week.
WoW launch was worse then this, and this game is already more stable then BF2 which at release would crash once a round. So while they screwed the launch, as long as it's fairly playable the first weekend, and more importantly next weekend it's not a disaster. It's just another rough launch so far, welcome to PC gaming were the long term game is more important then pre-release hype and a clean launch.
How is it on the console side?Comment

Seriously, some of the biggest PC games have more problems than this just from an update.Comment
