Played all through the Beta with War Tapes on and same with the game now, I dont think you can get anymore immersive.

Has it just got more reverb on or is it better for surround sound or something? I was never sure what it was actually for.

Vid is a comparison of war tapes and normal hi-fi,,

I guess its also something you would have to try for yourself, some people cant have it on for long periods of time, me I'm strange.. I love it and never get bored.

Yeah I just watched that and it just sounds like there is more reverb. I am listening to it on crappy laptop speakers tho I'll have to try it on my TV sometime. Really need to get a surround sound system as I'm sure it will sound amazing anyway.

I think it also has more ambient noises. Like gunfire in the background etc.

From my understanding it basically compresses the dynamic range of the sounds.

Played all through the Beta with War Tapes on and same with the game now, I dont think you can get anymore immersive.

In the beta it didn't work for me. As soon as I did anything else the game would just switch it back to "Hi-Fi."

Well iam gonna try it again tongiht. I tried in the beta and didnt like it because it was hurting my ears i dont know why lol i have an exellent sound card (X-FI Xtream gamers) and THX speakers (Logitech Z5300) I could not stand the noises at all its weird... mabe it was a probleme and its been fixed i am gonna check it out :)

According to DICE, you need to disable all the sound cards own special effects. Like EAX, crystalizer etc.

Whats war tapes ?? is a option of sound you can use when u have some very good sound card???? is "Realtek high definition audio" a good sound card???

No, its a crappy onboard soundcard. But it doesnt matter since BC2 does all the sound processing on the CPU.
I use an onboard Realtek in combination with a 5.1 Headset, and it sounds amazing.
