Backorder? WTF EA?

I just got an email saying the copy of the game I ordered from EA in November is on backorder. How in the world can you not produce enough disks to fill orders that were made 5 months ago?

I think they start printing discs like MAYBE,idk, a month before release.

Cancel it and buy it on steam, in that order so you dont get stuck with two.

Well don't order directly through them. I order mine from my local retailer or from steam.

Steam is nice but I like having a hard copy, I pre-ordered through Amazon with release date delivery.

What's the purpose of having a hard copy? Do you like putting the discs on display or something?

Some people just prefer having a hard copy. Personally i am the same, steam is nice and handy but i prefer having a hard copy.

I want hard copies. I don't like not ALWAYS having my copy. Also its a pain when steam goes down or something.

Yeaaah i like to feel the cd in my hands.... I like the smell of the new plastic and new game cd... i love to have the pleasure to reach home and unbox the game.... i love to feel the cd hole in my fingers, and to be able to put it into ma cd driver and start earing it to spin, and doing weird noises like "kraaachhh" looking like the cdplayer is eating the cd.

I always order software on DVD. Nothing sucks worse than having your HD backups $hit the bed and all your software is lost.

Nothing sucks worse than losing a game because your DVD-drive goes postal, your dog eats the disc or the kids gets a hold of it.
But even if my house is hit by a meteor, I can just log in to Steam from a new computer and redownload my games. And the newer games will also have all my configs and savegames stored away securely.
Digital distribution is the future.

Nothing sucks worse than losing a game because your DVD-drive goes postal, your dog eats the disc or the kids gets a hold of it.
But even if my house is hit by a meteor, I can just log in to Steam from a new computer and redownload my games. And the newer games will also have all my configs and savegames stored away securely.

Fair enough, until the Iranians run a barge off our coast, toss a nuclear-armed SCUD into the atmosphere near our borders, pop off an EMP burst taking out the Internet, and then I'm reduced to writing letters in Notepad after reinstalling Windows because I can't dl OpenOffice again.
