Hey guys,
wondering what your opinion is on this. I have had an 8800GTS 512 for about 3 years on an Asus Crosshair 590i Motherboard. For the past three years the card has performed flawlessly and I have been very happy with it. Now I'm at a crossroads where my choice lies between the ATI 5770 and the GTX275.
I decided on the 5770 as it was way cheaper and all the reviews claimed it smokes the GTX 275 plus it is DX11 ready. The DX11 I didn't really care abou,t but the reviews really impressed me so I bought a Gigabyte Radeon HD 5770. The benchmark tests showed it was a better card than the 8800GTS BY FAR but the look and feel of the card when playing COD MW2 seemed sub par. I decided to take the card back while I still could and wait for a 5850 to come in but I'm not sure that one will impress me either. So far, for me, the 8800GTS seems to do quite well but on the other hand, perhaps it's because of my 5+ years of having Nvidia cards as opposed to ATI.
So after all this rambling my question is this. Could it be that because I am running a motherobard with the Nvidia chipset with SLI capabilities, it favors Nvidia cards???? Could the ATI cards no matter how well they bench, be lacking simply because it's not in an ATI MOBO or INTEL MOBO?????
What do you all think?
I'm not ready to switch motherboards, YET!
Peace :)
