My thoughts, mine and mine alone...maybe :)

Thanks to Chaoszx for posting that link to the BC2 info, from that site I have come to realize a few things. And from the discussion in the other thread and peoples replies I empathize with many of you.

I have now realized that the 16 maps, is actually 8 maps with an A and a B version of it. Rush and Conquest.

I have now also sadly realized that there will be no jets
Why did I think there would be any? I dunno, I just did... I want to fly damnit.

This is not Desert Combat where epic battles would occur on El Alemein with tons of people, flying jets and dogfighting and (yes raping runways) With Heli's up and ways to kill them, Shilka's and stingers for the soldier who would take the time to equip it. What a crazy Modern world we are in now where the average soldier can't get his hands on a stinger anymore. Please keep the tracer dart and give me a stinger to unlock instead.

And it is not BF2 Gulf of Oman, with anti aircraft Miss(iles) at least they tried to let us shoot down jets. Why did they have to be mounted stationary AA missiles? so every pilot could key on them? But those were big maps, and even Karkand was a big map, it didn't have air, but when it was played in the 32 or 64 player version there was a lot of open area. ( worst design flaw of that map was the bottleneck at USMC spawn) Think about Kubra Dam 64 player, 2 jets on each side, 2 attack choppers available to the team who controlled the dam. Armor up the kazoo, AA vehicles that could actually make a heli turn tail.

Ahh those were the days of a Battlefield experience, as they say.

    BC2
The maps are pretty small for the heli's, it is easy to fly out of bounds. If the maps were a little more open, the heli's would have to move around a bit to cover the map. As it stands now, they can hover over the harbor with a slight left to right motion and the gunner can just spray the map with ammo equivalent to the rounds fired by a bradley.... actually even more powerful than the Bradley. I can't say how many times I have gotten hit indicators with the Bradley only to have the salvo run out and the player make it to safety.

How many of these things will be fixed in retail, only thing I see that has a prayer is the 50 cal sniper rifle, possibly killing the pilot. Will the quick gunner be able to seat switch and take over the controls? Will we have hot switching like BF2 ? Haven't flown enough to know for sure if it can be done.

I don't own a console so I never played BC1, maybe this is the way that game is. To a battlefield player they feel small. As a COD4 player they feel bigger, but the Heli and vehicles negates the extra space. If it were infantry only ( which is the way Karkand ended up being played most times) I think it would feel big enough.

The tanks and Mortar strikes basically devastate any and all cover available for the defense on the beta. I can only image the same thing will happen on other maps as well in Rush mode. The first few minutes of the map are spent leveling all cover that the defense might have, trees chopped down and buildings mortared into rubble. It isn't illogical to do either, if your opponent goes to ground leave no ground for him to go to. I do wish there were a few hardened bunkers that could offer some better protection.

I would also imagine the same thing will happen in conquest, and by mid round there won't be a tree or building left standing. Arty strikes will kill all the poor sods running around looking for a rock to hide behind.

Who knows, maybe it will play better in retail, if not we can only pray for BF3 to continue the actual legacy of the series. BC2 is a little COD4 and a little BF2, but like I said perhaps that is my own fault for wanting it to be a continuation of BF.

/end my thoughts, have a nice day

The AH-64 is a bit too much when it has a decent pilot, but I expect that the Engineer wil be able to handle it in the full game

You can already kill the pilot with the existing sniper rifles (done it with both M24 and SV98, haven't tried the semi-auto ones). Just an FYI :)

Anyway good "review" or what you want to call it. Can't say I agree on everything but hey it's personal opinion! Many of the other maps not in the PC beta will be more open as well (port valdez is easily the tightest one of them) so there should be a little bit better flow on those maps.

In RL the Apache HAS a more powerful cannon than the Bradley. 30mm Chain Gun vs 25mm Auto cannon.

I finally had to play for a while and I wish when I was dead I could have taken some screenshots of the battle as I was hovering over it. It was epic. I dont really use the word epic because it gets overused and everything is epic. But I was watching it and there was a huge firefight and tanks shelling each other and people ducking and smoke rising and muzzle flashes and so on.

Though BF3 may have jets, I don't think it will be much different from BC. Maybe more weapons or bigger maps or other kits or the commo rose, but I think we are looking at something very close to the next Battlefield.

          Hopefully you will like it.
