Re: Get you wallets ready?
They arn't forcing anyone to buy extras in order to be able to play the game like any other Battlefield. They are simply putting an offer out, if you want it it's there. I doubt PC will have to pay for maps. There is probably an expansion pack that will be available to buy at some point. There is your premium PC stuff.

Re: Get you wallets ready?
Those aren't rumors, they are facts EA has already said. Of course there is going to be DLC that cost money. Its been that way since BF2. If anyone is really surprised by this then either you are not paying attention to all the games you play and the news that is being posted everywhere (not just here) or you are new to gaming.
I am looking forward to seeing what things are free and what costs and if it will affect gameplay. I like to know how they are going to try to balance that.

I imagine that the free content PC gravy train has almost come to a stop.

Re: Get you wallets ready?
Yes they did something similar with BF2 and that actually backfired with low BF2142 sale rates ... Similar also happened with Battlefield Heroes that was free and it was promised that shop items wont influence the gameplay just aesthetics (clothes) and weapons that could be earned with few hours of gameplay, or you could buy them. Few months ago EA raised prices for weapons so players with ability to pay on-line have significant advantage since is it almost impossible to earn enough points with gameplay to buy any weapon. Hope something similar won't happen this time.Comment

That was before DLC was popular. In fact I don't think DLC was even around back then and was unheard of.Originally posted by LeopardiDICE gave tons of **** (vehicles, weapons, maps, etc) for free for Battlefield 1942.

I'm not going to throw my money to support the idea of having to pay for free stuff. This all we are going to have to pay for to get could be free for everyone without stupid console idiots buying DLC.Originally posted by stilla-killaThat was before DLC was popular. Re: Get you wallets ready?
They only buy it because they have to. *shrug*
Honestly what do you guys expect, we're not exactly in a 100% thriving world economy right now, and with video games being a technical novelty (meaning there will be less demand for them) then video game companies have no other choice then to try to produce more revenue, and one of those choices is making people pay for DLC.Comment

Re: Get you wallets ready?
So ... in "not exactly a 100% thriving world economy" it is logical to charge more for stuff that was free since gamers have more money in their pockets because of same economy circumstances? As far as I can see that doesn't make much sense. Offering more for same amount of money is logical in these circumstances. Offering better product with better support for same price as previous product makes sense also.Originally posted by Kylee! They only buy it because they have to. *shrug*

It is logical to minimize expenses, and support and content are both expenses.Originally posted by _X_So ... in "not exactly a 100% thriving world economy" it is logical to charge more for stuff that was free since gamers have more money in their pockets because of same economy circumstances? And I might add, they are not expenses that are likely to increase sales.
The large majority of players just look at the flashy graphic in trailers. Look no further than MW2 too see bad support and content overruled by a massive ad campaign.Comment
