    BC2 Optimization

What are some tips and tricks to squeeze some FPS out of the game?

    This is my system

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.2GHz (1.8GHz per) <- KILLING ME
    Zotac 8600GT 512MB DDR2
    2GB RAM DDR2
    Windows XP SP3

Average FPS: 23-30, but I get like 15 when I'm in a firefight

I tried overclocking my graphics card, it went up by about 15MHz before I got artifacts
No clue on how to overclock my CPU but I'm pretty sure its killing my FPS
I've set Dx=9 in .ini and I'm on the lowest settings possible with vsync off

Well, to be honest i cant find more ways to make mine faster either. It happens to me the same has u, i got nice fps but when i go in a middle of a fight or smoke it lags like hell.

So i just hope this is a beta thing and when it comes on full version it comes very optimized and supporting my graphic card xD.

In this new pc of mine i never even had to run a game on medium, i run gtaiv on high, and crysis on Ultra high and this game i have to run on LOW or i'm screwd

What do you mean by 1.8GHz per? if the CPU clock is 1.8 then it is running at 1.8 GHz, you don't get to multiply with the number of cores.
The min requirements is a C2D @ 2GHz, so it is doubtful that you get cant the game running decently. Your best hope is that the release version will be better optimized.

The DX9 trick wont help you, since Win XP is already DX9 only.

Ya, what do you mean 1.8GHz per. Newegg says ur CPU is stock at 3GHz. If yours is 3.2GHz, then BOTH cores run at 3.2GHz. Your graphics card isn't that great either.

I think the best way to get a better frame rate is to get a better graphics card. At least a 9800gt+/250gts or even better a 260gtx. They can be had for arround £100 (gts 250 $100 or gtx260 $200) and will yeild the greatest results.

Your processor should be fine as it runs at 3gig (or should)

            Wait what?

My CPU says Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHz, I just assumed that the 3.00GHz got shared both ways, so each would have 1.5GHz, but your saying each processor has 3GHz?

CPU-Z(a CPU monitering program) says this

Na mate both cores run at 3 gig. I think that what intel call speed step when the chip down clocks when its idle.

                Re: BC2 Optimization

you will need a new video card AND a new cpu in order to run this game better.

                i went from a e6850 (3.0ghz) dual core + an 8800gtx
                to
                Q9400 quad core 3.2ghz(oc) + 260gtx

my frame rates increased dramatically but here is the thing: I noticed that my new gpu was only running at 40% load, that means that my new cpu is STILL the bottleneck. I decided to try the 8800gtx again and my fps only dropped less than 5, if that much.
                so with my current setup
                Q9400 quad core 3.2ghz(oc) + 880gtx i achieve 45-70 fps.

my shorter opinion: your cpu is your biggest issue, and then your graphics card is a little weak for this game. in order to notice a decent upgrade in fps you will need to replace both.
Other than an upgrade there isn't much you can do.

I have the same problem only have a core2duo 2.66 dual core (O/Ced to 3.6), but I have a bfg gts260 ocx graphics card. when battle heats up I only get 20fps, however I will wait for the full release before deciding if I should upgrade to a Quad core processor!

Does anyone know how to get rid of the foolish Fog of War in the PC Version...The Xbox Version does not have any of that when you look through the sniper scope or are just running around. ( I am meaning the cloudy feel of the game)

Do you mean snow clouds? I don't think you will be able to turn those of, they are part of the map design. If that kind of stuff could be turned of they might as well not implemented it at all since those with it on would be severely disadvantaged

Well I dont know for sure, but consoles have muti cores, so there must be some sort of coding. And when in game all my cores spike.

Your FSB is running low at 200mhz. For this processor it should be running at 333mhz. Running it at 333mhz would bump it up to 2997mhz (3Ghz, what your processor should be getting). Right now you're only getting 1800mhz.

What motherboard and memory (speed) do you have? You may need a bios update for the motherboard to recognize and clock the new processor correctly, or you could bump the FSB up manually to 333mhz

Screen shots from CPU-Z of the Mainboard tab and SPD tab would give that info.

I'm not sure how to update bios or manually up the FSB speed, although I disabled speedstep so my cpu wouldnt idle anymore
