I too agree with the OP some what.Maybe i expected too much but it all seem a bit scripted ,micro destruction?not as if you can cut trees off where u want(Branches).

I think more cover is needed or add prone

as far as rush game mode people are just driving c4 quads/Uav c4 into them and blowing them up straight away

I'm a c4 whore. People hate me, but god, my team wins 99% of the time. I have an attack strategy for every point, that almost always succeeds. Chances improve with a buddy in TS too.

I think a lot of you are underestimating how much can actually be destroyed, there is very little in the game thats indestructable in total honesty. I know that every object (from a part of a fence to a part of a building) has it's own way of being destroyed and it may seem very repeatative or boring to a lot of you, but there aren't any other games that can compare to it in that sense. The only other big FPS out is modern warfare 2 and look how much "destruction" is in that, aside from from bullet penetration, the only thing that can be destroyed is glass.

Seriously just play through a game and image you are playing Bf2, cod4/6 etc and realise how much of a difference it makes.

          Re: frostbite and destruction

Not to mention ways to get into a building. Lets forget about the holes are the same or that there is no "physics" involved for second. So you have all these people camping the doorways and windows. No problem, take out your bazooka and make a new door. That along is pretty awesome and game changing. The battles wont be the same every single time like in BF2. Yeah, there will be some choke points and some people with their specific strategy, but people adapt and can alter it just by what kit they play or what unlocks they use.

Considering what can be done, its a huge leap into the FPS world. Crysis had it, but why did it not take off? Maybe in a few years there will be more realistic physics. These things have to mature and adapt over time.

So I dont think its a gimmick just because how it changes the play. Could it be a bit more flashy? Sure, but does it matter that much right now?

You both have valid points there!it is a huge step foreward,Guess i am too critical sometimes.Think my ideal will be in BF3 i hope :)

Personally id rather swap these UAV,Motar, and special ability perks for something more simple, large or hardcore. If they went the way of Arma instead(more real) with better(easier) controls and spawns that would be my ideal BF game.

1942 never had all this,No Uav,Sonar,Motar stuff !.It just relied on it epic big maps and lots of vehicles, hope they take note of that for us older guys?(no offence)

Being based in 1942 makes it easier to make a game fun but without destruction?

                It's like this:

Yes. The destruction makes things very different. Trees falling are great. Cover dying is great. The enhanced options of engagement given by blowing a hole in a building (or blowing it down) adds a bit of "diversity" that makes a good game.

                Destruction MAKES THE GAME BETTER.

But I was just expecting a bit more. My biggest gripe is that the environment doesn't respond to different attacks in different ways. An m203 blows the same hole in a building as does a tank. It just seems odd.

And I'm old enough to complain about video games. I'm ancient in video game years. All I do is watch Matlock and complain.

                  Re: frostbite and destruction

I ment a BF1942 type game with destruction ,just no uav, motar, airstrikes and Sonar ect.. that can rather be used programing to make the maps bigger, more vehicles and maybe air planes.

if they didnt focus on these COD type perks in BFC2 they could have made maps bigger or more vehicles ect?..a simplier but bigger(epic) game with destruction.

I like destruction but personally im not a fan of special forces abilities,I hated it when bf2 had UAV and commander arty and i still do

BF42 wasnt flash it didnt have gimics it was just huge and battles were based on vehicle/gun skills ONLY

Remake 42 with destruction, prone, navy,Air and no fancy uav or arty(maybe bring back howies) and id pay mega bucks lol

Dudes, i dont really mind with destruction physics, if theyr physics or not, but im glad theyr not because if they were, i wouldnt be able to play my favourite franchise last release(because its very heavy on graphics and stuf.. right?xD), Wich is BF and im very proud of that.
I've tryed MW2 of course and i tell you something, its worse than ever, its just like it was and like it has ever been, there are no inovations. We dont just need new graphics(wich mw doesnt have), we need inovations in other things(Modernwarfail filled up with hackers everywere. Dont think i've bought it cause the only game i've bought wich is not a bf was FFOW).
And i tell you something, After playing BFbc2, i just have to admit i wont be able to play another game again has i was able to.
I've catched myself yesterday in Bf2142 with the Gl trying to pass to the other side. IT was funny though cause i stayed for like 5 seconds with all these questions in my mind:
"What happened?" "WHat the hell?" "Is this a bug?" "wait, should i shoot again?!" "No, maybe its an indestructible wall!" "huw? Why am i not lagging?" "Yes, i'm not lagging, and i have very fluent fps btw" "AAaaahhh.. i'm in bf2142 -_-' ....."

What I was saying is that in 1942 they didn't have any of those "gimmicks" in Modern Warfare. So obviously they wouldn't be included, and in a game based on Modern Warfare, they would be.

I for one really like the destruction. Having died in a collapsing building, being killed behind a concrete wall by a grenade etc etc etc, really changes the way you play. Some structure is needed though else it would be total devastation for the defending team! Long live Bad Company 2, good bye BF2 (weep).

Dude I totally agree. The whole commander concept ruined BF2. I mean - why give a player on each team the ability to see the enemies position and then call it out? It made the game a lot more monotonous.

The way it's done in BC1 is the same way Project Reality did Kashan Deserts destructible props. In a sense at least and without the 100 object limit. but the "Falling down" aspect looks more like a pre recorded animation. which isn't so bad as all of this is still very cool. It's awesome to bring down a building with 7 dudes in it cause they didn't want to come out.

People are asking for a bit much. Yes the boxes with the times crate in them all destruct the same. Big deal. What do you want to be able to do? blow up an already blown u building? It's not really a gimmick because basically all walls and fenses are destructable. Every bldg has something destructable about it like windows doors. This is a game that plays on a network so there are limitations and sacrifices that must be made to ensure proper online performance.
