Looks like you don't really have to spin up the helicopter before you can take off. I think it's a little too easy escape from a tight spot.

Yeah, I was thinking the same.
But to be honest squadplay was never forced in BF, only encouraged. And people tend to be a bit clueless in a brand new game.
I hope it has similar squad mechanism to BF2142

From my understanding you can spawn off any of your squad mates that are alive.
