Were there different endings for Metal Gear Solid 4?

I just talked to my brother who just finished the game and I asked him how did he like the ending and he replied that he hated that Snake shot and killed himself. And I said no he didn't he lived. For some reason the game ended for him with Snake killing himself.

errr.. maybe u should watch the whole credits first
but no theres no different endings for MGS4
