Does this only happen on rust or.... ? I think mercanarys TDM is more save to play than other modes.

I think that Rust on FFA is the default setting on the dedicated servers so most hosts just don't bother changing those settings.

Well, no it isn't just on rust. It is really easy to change the dedicated servers to run some other map or gamemode since you have full access to a console.

g_gametype sd
map mp_whatever

Go on youtube and search for modern warfare 2 dedicated servers and you will see.
