punkbuster driving me mad

hi chaps,

please can anyone help?

been playing bf2 for a couple of years with no problems, but now bought new pc (windows 7) and installed bf2 and updated 1.4 patch then 1.5. now i can't play as i always get kicked with a message blaming punkbuster. different messages keep coming up.

what can i do to play this bloody game?

update it. go to their site and download pbsetup, add your game and check for updates.

done all that, still same problem.

i presume the pbsetup is saved to the desktop?

"service communication failure - PnkBstrA.exe" is the message i'm now getting constantly.

any advice?

The punkbuster service is being blocked by firewall or antivirus. You need to make sure you are allowing exceptions in Windows to let that through. You can test it by turning off antivirus and firewalls in Windows and see if the problem goes away.

try installing the PB services manually. I had to do that on my install of win7. (this is different than the pbsetup).
