Single player works, Multiplayer doesn't.
I'm trying to install and use BF2 on a MacMini running Windows XP SP3.
The BF2 is from a CD and is the one where only the "red" BF2 is on the CD. (It's not the multi-version with special forces, etc, whatever that's called). But main thing is it's installed from the CD, not a download. I'm also applying patch 1.5 (I think I needed an intermediate patch first).
After all this, the single player works fine. When trying to launch a multiplayer game, it crashes to the desktop. I've tried reinstalling and also I've tried deleting the PB directory and installing PBSVC from their website with no luck. I've also tried unchecking the punkbuster stuff but haven't been able to find a server that doesn't use PB (I wanted to see if PB is causing the problem).
What should I do or try to diagnose this problem? Is it worth opening a ticket with EA? Are they any good?
