Hey, Im a big fan of the warhammer 40k universe, its really interesting. I used to play Dawn of War and Winter Assault but the recent Dawn of War 2 just seems so boring multiplayer wise. It's just so small scale since it does away with base building. After watching some multiplayer videos the games multiplayer just looks so boring, small scale RTS are so bland. I watched a lot of multiplayer matches and it seems like one player never has more then 2 tanks, is the cap small or something? This game really disappointed me, most boring RTS multiplayer ever.
Dawn of war 2, multiplayer is crap?

Re: Dawn of war 2, multiplayer is crap?
I've actually enjoyed the dawn of war 2 mp. I'm glad they opted to try something different rather than just improving the graphics of the original dawn of war....although I still think the original is a superior game to this point, guess we'll have to wait and see what the expansions for the new one hold though...Comment

Re: Dawn of war 2, multiplayer is crap?
Im not buying this game, might just get it on torrent for the singe player. They should have had base building, the unit cap is so damn small, it must be 50 each or less. I don't think the expansions will change this, they will just add new maps, new campaigns and new factions. Looks like the Dawn of War franchise is dead multiplayer wise. At least there is still starcraft 2 to look forward to, C&C4 also does away with base building and it looks like complete crap, small cap in multiplayer to.Comment

I picked it up when it was $25 bucks on steam...or else I wouldn't have bought it either. Its different, but fun nonetheless.Comment

Thank you!
IMHO, Medieval 2 is the best in the series. That is a modern RTS that is well worth playing. :)Comment

:) that was your opponents machine being incapable of running the game on the settings he/she chose.Originally posted by RYKUUI have DOW2 and I have to say I have only bothered to play MP twice as all my matches had unbelievable lag, it was shocking.Comment

They said something about my settings being too "high" for them, I thought it was odd.Originally posted by TGL|FalseLion:) that was your opponents machine being incapable of running the game on the settings he/she chose.Comment

I really don't see why people dislike E:TW? It just takes a while to get used to. Although I do agree with M2:TW being the best in the series. Anyways I'm sliding off topic now.
Also to concluide it for the original poster: I would have been angry if I paid fo my copy of DoW. So you probably would be too.Comment

Empire had a terrible launch. It was unplayable for so many people due to lack of testing prior to release, I had some of the problems and my sound in the game is still broken (it turns randomly on and off on every setting). And thats just getting the game started.Originally posted by IdaeusI really don't see why people dislike E:TW? It just takes a while to get used to. Gameplay, the AI is horrible. Whats the point in doing you know 20 unique battle animations with still only a good 15/30 of your troops are actually going to fight instead of just standing still slowly gliding forwards until they get to fight.
Battles are boring, whether that was the intention due to the warfare of ther period I dont know. I hope not. There are little to no unique units. Battles are simple (even on hard) the AI still has the same problems that never got fixed in any of the previous games.
The morale mechanic is terrible. A unit that is designated my general (that is not actually a general) dies, I can have 500 men fighting 100, my troops will still turn and run as my 'general' is dead.
Campaign map is a lot smaller (region wise). France is only one region! The best parts of the mods for M2 were Stainless steel and others that made the campaign map much bigger and detailed. The warpath campaign was a gimmick.
Navel battles and Technology research are the only new features to the game, both of which are undercooked ideas, they have potential it just feels like they were rushed in more than anything.
Its a game I really want to like, and I do still play it a lot. Its a game where every time I play it I feel a great gaming experience is just around the corner, this never materialises. Battles are boring to say the least. It actually just does feel like they made some new fancy animations, dumbed down the gameplay and added some new units. This is no way an improvement from Medieval 2.
This is what annoys me about the game, I own all the series so far (since Shogun) and they are all games that I enjoy immensely. I just cannot enjoy this game. Also, they stopped supporting the game already when there are still so many bugs. + No mod tools.
Lets hope they get it right with Napoleon.

I'm not sure what they were thinking but DoW1 is still wayyy better (not to mention CoH). Check out my
If you're looking for a good RTS you should get Empire Total War if you're into heavy strategy or World in Conflict if you want action. They are the best games right now.
