does it make any sense that dolphin diving was only a problem in BF2 and not a single game other than that (that had prone)?
i don't get the whole fear of dolphin diving excuse.
THE POINT I WANT TO MAKE:
DICE wants to make this game as arcadish as possible so that it appeals to a wide range of gamers. console gamers, casual PC gamers, they're the target audience for this game. NOT us hardcore BF guys.
this is how IW treated their game.
in the end, the bottom line was the biggest demographic for the game. it's not us hardcore PC guys, it's the casual gamers and console gamers who outnumber us by a great deal.
Taking prone out of an FPS? To actually think this is a good idea... you have to be one of those noobs that go 3-18 in a server and enjoy themselves cause thats just a ****in stupid idea

If you check out the various Battlefield forums I think you'll find that there are a lot of console players who want prone in as well. Just because we play on a console doesn't automatically mean we want a more casual game.
I have to agree with you that I don't understand why people are making such a fuss over dolphin diving as it was only an issue in BF2.
@L-iNC
How would going prone make it more difficult to aim in the distance? Surely its the same if your crouching and aiming in the distance? Also I've never had a problem sniping targets that are little dots in the distance on a console. Yes I agree that a mouse and keyboard is better and more accurate than a controller but after using a controller for a while now to play FPS you can get pretty good at it (I used to be really against using a controller for FPS and only started playing FPS on a console because BF came out on the PS3). Even tho it might take a little bit longer to take aim, practically everyone has the same controller and so has the same disadvantage. Unlike on PC where people have different mice and keyboards with more buttons, macros, etc and also different systems, graphics cards, etc therefore giving some people an advantage over others.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is an FPS game and it doesn't have prone, it worked out fine.
Rainbow Six Vegas also doesnt have tanks, choppers, APCs for which sometimes you have nothing to fight with. R6V also doesnt have large spaces with little cover so when youre stuck in a bad situation, you could just wait it out or lure the oppisition into crossing that field.
Personally when I played BC1 (which is obviously the best comparison you can make between games here), I did not feel any serious need for prone. You play the game as it is and you learn to adapt... and if its anything like BC1 there is more than enough cover regardless of the fact that almost everything is destructible.
If I was a better player, I would probably care more. However, as official 21CW Bullet Magnet, I can tell you that hiding, running, jumping, flying, whatever makes no difference. I die just as quickly. Make the game stable with reasonable framerates, and I'll be happy :thumbsup:
I think this is a great Idea as I rarely use the prone in BF2 or 2142 as the crouch is just as effective in keeping out of the way, Going to be great to see no dolphin diving knifers running round the maps or macro users.......GOOD JOB DICE well thought out
Heh, w/e people that are good at the game will adapt, those that whined about prone diving will whine about crouching, or some other tactic anyway. Then the Devs will listen to them and make simple and simpler games for the masses of mediocre players.

The comparison is so wrong, on all levels.
Broad generalizations get broad generalizations in response I guess.

Removing prone isn't going to get rid of macros, and it's already possible to make dolphin diving/prone spamming ineffective without removing prone, like a delay or accuracy penalty for going prone.
