The Treyarch report closely followed a rumor that had the studio's music department looking for "Vietnam War-era tunes, as well as Cuban, African, and Soviet Union music"--hinting at a Cold War setting. Though unconfirmed, that came several months after Treyarch senior producer to UK edition of Official Xbox Magazine that Call of Duty: World at War would be the last game in the series to be set during World War II. That transition has already been made by franchise founder Infinity Ward, whose second present-day game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, ships Tuesday.
      Hmmm. Cool.

Soon the CoD franchise will start multiplying like bunnies if this keeps up.

I'll buy COD7 (Or whatever it's called) on release day for sure. I wanted to buy WaW on release day but my computer wouldn't have ran it as well, so I bought WaW in June and upgraded to a 9800GT about a month later.

WWI, would be awesome, but very complicated. I mean, it would be pure carnage because of MG fire and trenches, and you'd get popped by one the second you charge or whatever. But that would only be a few maps, definatley Urban warfare would be sweet!

Tanks didn't make such a big impact in WWI. There were mostly used as amored cars to transport soldiers across No Man's Land to the enemies trenches. There's just not enough technology to make a game interesting for the modern gamer. Mustard Gas and trench fighting won't get millions of dollars in sales.

That's what I've been paying attention to also. I always liked WaW more than CoD4 before we got any news on MW2.
