Alt + tab + bf2142= fail!!

every time a press alt tab, at least 4/5 of the time my battle field dosent respond anymore. Thats freaking annoying, is it just me or...

It has always worked fine for me, it's very nice being to go in and out without and problems, but if you are one of those people that can't do it, try this

it never worked reliably so i try my best not to use it.

fwiw, dice claims they never supported the use of alt tabbing.

Welcome back to November 2006 :laugh:

I love that statement DICE put out, "Alt tab is not supported". Meaning, we realise tabbing out causes the game to go tits up but we don't know why so don't do it.

Seems to have something to do with the videos. If you rename your intro videos so you don't have to sit through them every time you start the game then alt-tab becomes very temperamental. The alt-tab fix just restores the videos IIRC.

Yes, indeed it is very nice... especially when your in a middle of a game and you accidentally press some e-mail shortcut key on your keyboard :)
And why would dice not support this? lol..?

I downloaded the file, I wont test it tonight but i read feebacks and it really looks convincing! No more intro video for me :thumbsup: thanks man

i already have something like that which replaces a movie file with a blank generic movie but i'll try one since you seem so happy about it.

yeah, meh... i tried it today and... really nothing changed except that i dont have intro movie.

lol it still has dice logo movie. i have a blank black bik file instead. it goes by quicker.

try this, it's not perfect but better than the other one. it's the only file you need in the movies folder.

i played some last night and alt tabbed like 5 different times without a problem. Guess i am lucky :p

With BF2 i never had any problem tabing out. until 1.5
2142 i sometimes have a problem with it.

Over in the 21cw forums there was a fix for 1.5 problem ...

It seems to be something with Directx 9.0c and the render file

Not sure if there is a fix for 2142 though.

i don't get it. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. i've had issues w/ both xp & vista. after not being able to alt/tab for the past year, all of a sudden it is working again [scratches head].

There was a time when i could minimize the game all day long and all of a sudden one day, it just refused to pop the screen back up. Usually happens after playing 2 rounds.
