  • Why Next IW CoD will Be crap for PC

Obviously PC support for MW2 is in the ****ter right now, and that will not change till dedicated servers are brought back and more than 18 players.
    But now.

    The statistics people

This shows the percentage of console per pre-order that the game was bought on. Obviously the low PC number is from the canceled pre-orders of the ****ty support from IW.

YOU KNOW that some dumb executive **** who knows nothing about whats happening except that 'money make me happy', is gonna see that and say, well it truly doesnt benefit us to make a game for the PC, cause then we no get money, and i no get happy from money.

I Honestly am more excited about Treyarchs next work than IW.

Thing is, had this whole **** storm not have come about, would those PC pre-order numbers actually be that much higher. I would say 10% at the absolute max. Even at that rate, it's still hugely lower than both consoles and there is likely to be some positive correlation between pre-orders and post release purchases.

With that in mind, is it really that surprising that they don't give a damn about PC any more? Also, the costs they saved producing specialist functions for PC probably outweighs or at least equals the sales lost.

The PC preorder numbers were up at 16% before the news came. Or at least that's what a guy told me...

Yeah, it was at 16%, which is what it was with CoD4. The difference though is that they are already exceeding sales based on pre-orders, so that 16% for CoD4 is say 100,000 units and for MW2, it was 150,000 units. Those are not the real numbers at all, but you get the idea.

To be honest, I don't think there will be a CoD:MW3 for PC next time.

How? With IWnet, they need to pay to keep those servers running. It will be an on-going thing, too. Had they included dedicated servers, we'd be paying for the servers ourselves.

So I don't understand how they would have saved money not including things like dedicated servers.

I think they just cant stand the fact that other company s are making money out of ther game whitout paying them money for hosting them for ppl.

Hmmm, I never thought of that. IWnet IS improving the PC experience by making us get to know each other and the 16 of us can almost make a full "server".

Re: Why Next IW CoD will Be crap for PC

                            One thing to consider here:

Each copy sold on the PC at $60 gets Activision twice as much profit when compared to the console versions. Sony and Microsoft aren't taking a cut of each PC copy sold.
Then there are Steam and Direct2Drive. Eliminating packaging and shipping costs is nothing to sneeze at, either.

As for the pre-orders... PC gamers are much less likely to pre-order a game, especially if the system requirements aren't released until two weeks before launch. PC gamers like to see how the game works so we're less likely to get burned by portitis. Look at GTA IV, Web of Shadows, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Oblivion, Fallout 3, World at War, Borderlands and a buttload of other games that either totally sucked on the PC or had serious technical issues on launch.

We also can't return or resell our games if they suck. Once we open the box, and sometimes even before that, the game is ours and there's no going back. On the PC it's just more of a gamble to buy a game without seeing it in action on other PCs with similar specs. If I buy a game and install it, only to find out that it's totally incompatible with nVidia GPUs/drivers, I'm out $50 with no recourse. So of course I'm a lot less likely to pre-order any game. And I'm sure a lot of other PC gamers feel the same way about this.

not to mention with the new steam integration we cant even sell it to someone else without selling our steam account
