Joystick troub w/1.50

I use an old sidewinder 2 forcefeedback stick, which is in perfect condition.
It always worked great for bf2, that is, until i installed 1.50... Now every function on the stick works, except the stick itself.
That's right, no x or y axsis, but i have the z (twist on the stick), and every damn button.
Just no stick.

As it turns out, I'd rather have it reversed, and only be able to use the stick.
But i digress.

Has anyone else had this issue?
Can it be fixed?
Is it me? Please tell me it's just me.

Select the falcon axis controls in the helicopter/jet control pages and pres ESC to delete them.

Done.
