Cod MW2 PC. As a customer what are you planning to do now?

I thought about the revealed features of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PC version. I decided I would cancel my preorder until dedicated server support is added. This could very well mean I will never play the game. No this also does not mean I will pirate the game. Anyone who uses this as an excuse to pirate needs to do us all a favor and go die.

From my point of view as a player, nothing has changed for me, it being on Steam is a bit of a pain only because of auto updates, but I only really want this game for the SP experience.

I won't purchase this game until there are dedicated servers and the normal server list.

As a gamer, as a player, you will actually be hit with the bulk of it.

            -No more free custom maps
            -No more free custom mods
-No more servers with set rules, regulations and atmosphere created by its regular gamers and admins
-Complete anonymity in all of your rounds, no long term cool gaming buddies picked up as strangers from random rounds
-Vastly less clans because of aforementioned last two sets
-A high probability of a lot of laggy servers
-Competitive gaming to be dead, a hit for e-sports and future of gaming as a whole (PC)

As a pubber, once you log in, you are at the mercy of the idiot who gets to be an admin at random.

All in all, the whole experience will suffer a lot. On all sides, in all aspects.

I already pre-ordered this for the 360, so it really isn't a big deal for me, but from playing COD4 on the PC, I can see where having no dedicated servers is a kick in the ***. Terrible decision by IW.

Which if your lucky will be 8 hours long, so are you willing to pay upwards of £30/Whatever it is in dollars for a game, with a short singleplayer and a very limited replay value? Im certainly not.

Yup, I still play CoD4 SP every now and then and enjoy it alot, if I was in the same position I was 2-3 years ago I would be just as mad about there being no dedi servers.

I really hope they cave and add dedicated server support in a patch, preferably the first one. A friend of my sisters boyfriend says he is still gonna buy the PC version so I will get a chance to check it out that way to see if not having dedicated servers will hurt the game or not from my own perspective.

I feel very strongly that no dedicated servers is a step back. I am mostly afraid there will be too much lag. Though as none of us know how well the multiplayer will actually run we can only speculate. That being said, I still feel that canceling my preorder was the right thing to do in this situation for me personally.

I've stopped playing the SP part of CoD long ago, in fact the last game I finished was CoD2 and I just rushed through it to get it over with.

So now that leaves me with MP, I LOVE server lists and dedicated servers(I wish all FPS and non-FPS games had this system), it's like a bar, a community that you can go to everyday and get to know the locals and have a great time, NOW, that is not possible anymore because the game will be throwing you all over the place, so what's the point?

I can't pick the servers I want to play it and it's useless now, the game itself is basically CoD4, nothing totally new there.

                          Not buying.

Re: Cod MW2 PC. As a customer what are you planning to do now?

Ive decided that I am getting it. The #1 reason is because I now have a deal to get it on the cheap. The #2 reason is since so many are dropping it without knowing anything about the setup and there not being a demo, I wont get to see what the game is about. So I will be that person that tries it out and reports back to you all.

It may be utter fail. But now that I am getting it on the cheap, its no loss to me. I dont play mods and I said a long time ago that when CoD4 came out with ranks, thats what killed the modded community. Look at how many mods there are for 4 and 5 vs 1, UO and 2. I dont mean just choices but active playing mods.

The way to select how to play bothers me. I go to specific servers, but not being in a clan, I do roam a lot also. I like having my favorite haunts, but we don't know what IWnet can or cant do. Im looking forward to more information on it.

Anyway, for those of you that are still going to get it, if you would like to help me test it out and go through it, I plan to fraps it and throw it up on youtube, please PM me or add me to xfire and let me know you are getting it and we will test it out. I am based in the US and tend to play somewhere around 6pm - 9pm CST.

More and more games are going this way. I really believe Battlefield will also head this route. We need to learn how it works and how to work with and around this type of system. Not just for sakes as gamers, but our sakes as friends, fans, and clans of the community.
