I'm tired of all the crashes and lock ups in this game.

I am still a daily player since it came out. Why do I put up with so much instability?

Was just trying to check everything out to see if I can isolate the problem. Although, I am starting to believe it lies within the Battlefield main server or something. There are many others that are having crashes and lockups. No way to explain where they are all stemming from.

The simplest answer is almost always right. Is it more likely there's something wrong on your end of the Battlefield main server? The game never crashes for me, nor does it do so for most people.

Have you done all the common trouble shooting tips listed in other threads, i.e. update drivers, reinstall, checked for faulty hardware, etc?

I have a pretty good computer. I've upgraded it a lot, and "Can You Run It?" has me playing less than a CM from the fast hard drive (Way over recommended). Yet, I still get lockups (Not as much) and lag. I have EVERY setting, and I mean everything except for view distance, on LOW or OFF. I play at 800x600, yet, I only get 50-70 FPS max. How do people record with great graphics?

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
3.19 GHz
3.2 GB RAM
ATI: Sapphire 16xx series.
528MB of vid card RAM.

My friend says it's because I only have one processor, but now I see this game is supposed to run on one. What's up? All I have running in the background is Norton/Xfire.

It's because, no offence, that's a pretty bad PC. The Pentium 4 CPU is a very, very old architecture and so is the X1600 card. Upgrading would allow you to record easily.

Sometimes you have to upgrade hardware, ufortunately, dam still going strong

Sorry mate, but that's not even close to a decent computer.

I know, it sucks compared to a gaming computer. But do you understand where I'm coming from? If Can You Run It says I can run the game fine, is it wrong or what?

And I upgraded mine from a casual computer. :/ No gaming computer for me.

get another gig ram will see the most difference, new cheap gfx card even more [less mem more speed]. no point going ape on the gfx your CPU is poopy

I've already upgraded my GB from 512 -> 2 -> 3.2. Not going to 4. Plus, I doubt I'll be playing more anyways. I remembered why I quit before lol. The game runs fine for as long as I need to play, just in-game I don't care for the game anymore lol. Thanks anyways. :) Might check out BF2, I never really played. BF2142 was first FPS. It's hard though imo, I can't work with Iron Sights well there. :/ lol.

you don't need more ram, don't worry.

i had a very similar system to yours, but i started at a x800 then upgraded to x1950, but i don't think the cost justified the gains (although your video card kinda sucks badly right now). now i have a quad core setup and that old P4 3.2 is downstairs as my dad's internet computer.

don't make the same mistake i did. i kept pumping in money on my old dead end P4 AGP rig. in the end, it wasn't worth it at all. just save up for a nehalem based rig.

The RAM isn't the problem. It's the CPU and gfx card. Both are extremely outdated. You can upgrade to a C2D and a decent gfx card that will play BF2142 on highest settings for VERY cheap, or even buy a low-mid range new desktop that's faster than yours.

If you go post a thread asking for some help in the tech center, plenty of people will offer to help you get the best deal and bang for your buck. :)

yea don't waste money anymore. if you upgrade video card, you are still bottlenecked by the CPU. and don't even bother with CPU, it ain't worth it.

save up for a mid range system.
