I just started playing WAW 2 weeks ago, and was looking to into playing competitive. Are their any leagues supporting WAW?

Re: Competitive WAW?
TWL, teamware.com has a few leagues. Not sure on their schedules though. You would have to check.
Its the only one I noticed. Some others might know of a few.

Re: Competitive WAW?
[Serious] competition in WaW never even took off, so any leagues you'd find wouldn't house any of the major teams that played CoD4. If you are looking to get involved competitively you should just wait for MW2 to come out rather than researching WaW leagues.

Re: Competitive WAW?
WaW was built for the pub players, and you can tell that by the features they implemented. More server features and various options catered much more toward the average player than for competitive players.
Call of Duty 4 is overall a more polished game, at least in the competitive community's eyes. I'm not saying it's perfect, but the maps, weapons, and sounds (especially sounds) are better for competition than those for WaW which seem to be more generic, less balanced. Also, Call of Duty 4 already had a more established mod when WaW came out, and because WaW didn't bring anything new or beneficial to the competitive community there was no reason to switch. Players tried, for example damn mod was made, and a few matches were played, but people soon realized that the overall "feel" of the game just didn't continue what Call of Duty was known for - at least competitively.
Call of Duty 4, I'll admit, is dying - but with MW2 coming out many players who have stopped playing CoD4 will return to at least try it out. Also, now that the NA and EU communities have agreed on a general mod (promod - despite there being two different versions) the community will be able to start competing much more quickly - and in a more unified manner - than WaW and even CoD4.

Re: Competitive WAW?
Well, I've never played COD4 or COD5 competitively to know exactly the difference in play styles. I do however know that more people spam me through walls, prone and spawn camp me more in COD4 than COD5 ever has. So, in my own eyes COD 5 is a lot more pub friendly for the sake I can't get gay'd out as easily. There's no game like COD 4 where someone can sit right at a spawn point and kill you over and over again.
I can kind of see the different flow types of COD 4 to 5. But the weapons really don't take much more skill. It's kind of like CS in the aspect it's all autos, all you really need to know is the flow and some good strats to go along with it to be decent. Along with some extra practice to become more sharper overall. Compared to in COD 5 bolt rifles vs autos. Auto is really easy in COD 5 as in COD 4, but when you bolt vs an auto I find it a lot more challenging and fun.
The sounds I really can't say much about. I really haven't noticed a big difference in sounds. In COD 5 I seem to pay attention to a lot more detail than I did in COD 4. I love using the bolt rifle, so I have to stay on my game when I know there are autos out there camping behind a corner. In COD 4 I felt I could always just run around and spray anyone who was around the corner, it was only the far away shots I couldn't hit because other people knew the maps better than I did.
I guess I don't see why COD 4 is more competitive when COD 5 seems to me like the more difficult game. But I am just a pubber as of now, so if anyone has a different point of view feel free to share it.
