Doesn't it show you somewhere how many more kills you need in a gun class before your ready to unlock the next weapon ?

Not really in a gun exp but more like stat points you accumilated over the rounds. A new level is a new unlock. If you are talking about medals or awards then yes they have thier own exp bar!

This is where BF2 falls flat. Does not tell you what you need before you go to next level. BF2142 does it much better.
