Kicked by PB for having disallowed characters in name?

So I just started playing Bf2 again yesterday, and after downloading the last 2 patches I went online to play. First two servers I join, I get kicked because of disallowed characters in my name. I've played for around 250 hours and have never encountered this before. Besides letters, I have a . and a ^ in my name (because someone else took the name by itself).

Um, what exactly can I do about this? I don't think there is a way to change your account name, or is there? Can I create a new account and transfer stats/unlocks to it?

No...Yes...and no. Can't Change your account name, you can create a new one, but you can't transfer your stats/unlocks to it. It sucks, I know.

Strange... I have an account just like this one - LoGoS.^CyN.TV* and LoGoS.^CyN.Inf* and they both work.
Try different servers?
Update PB?
Reinstall?

Were any of your characters orange by chance?

my guess is that is was the server on which you were playing. admins have an option to auto kick players with special characters in their name.
