A very strange thing has happened tonight. After starting Forgotten Hope 2 it seemed to get stuck on the BF2 log in screen, so I hard reset my PC.
When I restarted BF2 (empty server) I found whatever sound I made in game, simply kept repeating endlessly. I ESCed out to the sound menu, where even the click on the menu began echoing too, sounding like some horrible drum machine.
I turned off hardware sound acceleration, which stopped the sounds repeating, but with software sound I was getting no sound in game.
So then I uninstalled and reinstalled BF2. Same problem. Now whatever sound is made, even clicking on menus, just repeats ad infinitum. I have never encountered an error like this before. All other games and sound card features working fine outside BF2.
Obviously it is very frustrating. Does anyone have a suggestion? I have tried a few searches already.
