    Medics, aka Juggernaughts.

I really do hope I am not alone in thinking that the Medic kit is by far one of the most overpowered kits in the game!

Ever since I/O was introduced, servers are filled to the brim with medics, now I am not having a go at the actual kit, Medics are good for BF2 (reviving team mates and healing others etc).

But why on earth did DICE decided it would be fair to give 1 kit, the ability to fully heal itself and others, revive dead allies (while recieving a **** ton of points for it) and, what I believe is the killer blow, the most powerful guns available to infantry...

All the standard weapons (M16A2, AK-47 and AK-101) are amazing, they deserve to be on the Assault kit, they are true beasts. But giving them to medics is insane, medics on a real battllefield wouldn't be carrying these monstors, and in the sake of game balance it just isn't right. Not only are their standard weapons insanely good on level with the proper infantry kit (Assault), but they probably have even better unlocks (in all fairness to the G3 and the F2000).

The L85A1 is a 1 shot kill to the head, one of the most accurate guns on the game, has zoom on it's scope, etc. And it is given to the medic, the kit that is based around healing and reviving allies.

The G36E is an even bigger joke, insanely accurate high damage weapon, once again, given to the medic class...

Doesn't anyone see a problem here? Ofcourse DICE never knew they were going to release a patch which made I/O possible, but when they did surely they saw what they were doing to balance (no need for Assault, Engineer, Anti-Tank and arguably Spec-Ops). Since all you need is a team of Medics, a few Support and a few Snipers.

Sorry to rant but it confuses me how they could come to the agreement to give Medics such an armory.

I would have thought giving them less powerful assault weapons, or possibly sub-machine guns would make things like Infantry Only a lot more interesting, at least the Spec-Ops and Assault classes would be useful due to their heavier damaging weapons.

Anyway, pick out any flaws in my rant, just wanted to get it off my chest!

indeed its stupid when you come across a squad of 6 medics that you need a nuke to stop, you kill one and they just revive and fire back with superior weapons, if you don't have some armour to counter them then :/

Always thought assault should be more powerful, I liked what they did in 2142 somewhat but imo its IO that really ruins it, that gamemode should be sent straight to hell

But when you think about it, nerfing the medic's weapons would make fewer people play as medic; and is that something we want? I mean I'm having enough trouble being revived already with 15 medics swarming around me.

I don't think they're insanely overpowered but it does suck that the medic class makes the assault class completely irrelevant. The GLs are decent and would be really annoying if they were much more powerful but they don't balance out the jesus powers of the medic. They should have just given the medics different, slightly weaker guns instead of the same ones as assault.

'One of' the most? Name another besides medic that's overpowered. AT maybe, with the bunnyjumping DAOers, but even they don't hold a candle to medic.

Medics were always overpowered, even before IO. IO just brings that to the forefront.

            No argument here.

IO isn't, nor has it ever been, about balance. It's about point whoring, and to that end it succeeds. I'm honestly glad they didn't spend any more time on it than they did, because it's an embarrassment to BF.

Agreed. They should have been given SMGs. They had SMGs in BF1942 and in that game there were no insta-heal medpacks or reviving, although the SMGs in BF1942 were overall a little better than the ones in BF2.

              its to encourage team play.

2142 also has the best guns, krylov, voss, baur for medics.

OMG I forgot about the Voss, stupid bullet hose that blats everything within 2 mile radius.

Medic should swap with spec ops, that way, spec ops are actually good apart from c4 and the medic is less super-soldier.

I honestly doubt it, people will always play medics, you get too many points for reviving people (1 revive shouldn't be as highly valued as a kill). Giving them less powerful rifles would mean that if a medic decides to go and run and gun, it will have less chance of ripping everything up in it's path.

But in 2142 they compressed a lot of the kits (Assault and Medic, Anti-Tank and Engineer, Spec-Ops and Sniper, and well then Support had a slight chage with a shotgun choice). So in all fairness you could argue people were playing Assault and Medic.

But with 2, we have an Assault class, it should be given the most powerful infantry combat weapons, as it is the standard infantry combat class.

This isn't exactly news. The medic class is pretty crazy, especially on account of the G36E which seems to be the most accurate assault rifle in the game.

                      Re: Medics, aka Juggernaughts.

That’s why when I get my new system I’m back to PR Mod were team play is how you survive. The other day I was on the great wall map and had five guys heading my way I killed the first three, then killed them again when the Medic showed up by this time all five are firing back running in the open, as who cares about bullets when you have a God behind you with the gift of life.

PR you can count on tactics knock out an attacking squad if there are stupid enough to run at you and you can be sure there down for good and not back alive and shooting you 10 second later.

Why not just have Medic heal if wounded / Low but if your dead your dead. I got shot Dead four times in what was like 10 seconds with a medic reviving me again and again.

Although I do realise its good for the less skilled, less tactical sort of players that want easy time of it and as many kills in a minute as can be.

Also the tanks and APc need a zoom on the Targeting like In PR. You have to be on top of the Anti Tank that is not limited in kit.

Pity they cant think things through like the Modders.

There's nothing wrong with the spec ops guns, though. They're more accurate than the ARs and sufficiently powerful. Spec ops is fine the way it is, but medic needs a lot less killing power for balance if it's going to retain its awesome teamwork abilities.

The notion that medics are unarmed on the battlefield is a myth.

In reality, combat medics carry the same primary battle rifle as every other infantryman.

I don't think its that the Medics are over powered, rather that the Assault class is under powered. Support is in the same boat as Medic f.y.i., also a disgusting point farm with a powerful and accurate gun. Assault, AT and Spec-Op need Medics and Support to function for long term, I mean the use there munitions and absorb plenty of bullets. Snipers rely on the commander to drop them supplies since they mostly act as lone-wolfs and Engineers, are more for the armored route.

You are talking about good Medics in the zone, like n00bit: has a 500h exp. honing the destructive skillz. Fav. weapons: G36E (amazing distance/"in the zone" weapon), the AK47 (amazing.).
