    GTA 4 on PC

ok so atm, play.com have GTA 4 on the PC for £14.99.

ive had it on PS3 and loved it. my question is. is it worth getting? ive heard it requires quite a bit to run, my system specs are on the left. :)

ive been watching videos made with the built in recording feature which i think is awesome.

also, how hard/easy is it to install mods? like skins, handling mods etc

    thanks.

edit, i almost forgot, what are the controls like, do they take some getting used to?

It does require a very good PC, I say on yours, medium graphics would be fair.

If you have it on PS3, I couldn't recommend re-purchasing it unless you have a mod in mind you really want to play!

my brother had an annoying time with this game when he first got it, signing into all the different crap, he has a monster rig and it apparently ran fine but bugs, glitches and tbh the graphics are not spectacular; its a hog and I wouldn't bother if you already have it on PS3

unless they making some awesome mods for it, can't see it happening after the great stuff you could get for San Andreas

Oh god, the bloatware that comes with it. Forgot that. I wouldn't get it.

If you really liked it, and dont want to spend the extra 45 for better overall performance and non-glitchyness, then go for it. I, on the other hand, would just save up the cash.

It's a bit buggy and glitchy, but I've heard the modding scene is pretty lively, you might want to look that up though.

I picked it up for $20 at Gamestop a couple months ago, and I'm able to run it on medium-ish (1600x1200). It will probably take awhile to figure out how to configure your settings to get a good frame rate. If you want to play multiplayer, then deduct 20fps for having to run the bloatware and not being able to utilize optimization mods. That being said, the mods make singleplayer a lot more enjoyable. I personally run a graphical mod for better shadows and motion blur, realistic car speeds (i.e. faster sports cars), and a cheat mod. It's awesome being able to spawn exactly the car you want or replay any mission again.

But yeah, if you want to play with friends buy the PS3 version.

I can play it on all medium on my laptop on 1366x768. But the game comes with far too many things to sign in, join, be a member of etc. PLUS Windows live...

I enjoy it because it's the only manner I can play the game, no consoles here. So yeah...

ive seen some of the mods that look awesome, like better niko, drifting, realistic speed and damage,

another option is that im getting a Xbox 360 elite for Xmas, (i know bit far away) which comes with CoD4 and GTA 4, that way i can get then DLC aswell. but i was planning on exchanging the games for otherones that i havent played yet.

Iv got it on PC, unfortunatly the thing is scratched to hell and I cant install it anymore. My experiance with this game was its brilliant when it works.

                      1) its a ***** to install. (crating various accounts just to start the thing)
                      2) the benchmarking is useless
                      3) badly ported to PC making it full of glitches and bugs.
                      4) the online gameplay was rubbish
                      5) my face melted when it crashed before you could save.

Id recomend it on PC. :awes

I think it would run fine on your computer with medium to high settings.
It's not very hard to install mods but you might get banned from Games for Windows Live and you might be unable to play (Rockstar does this filecheck thing everytime you start the game up) if you don't do it properly.

You don't get banned from games for windows for running mods. The filecheck only disables multiplayer if you have any modified files. If you want to run mods in SP, you can run whatever you like, the MP option will just dissapear from the phone. The only problem that could affect your SP is a corrupt or missing file (like if you delete one by misstake), that will just crash the game though.
