Is it just me or are the EU tanks disorienting?

I love to drive tanks and other armored vehicles in BF2. I Don't know what I love more, driving armored vehicles or flying attack copters. Anyway, on to my point.

The EU tanks have the barrel of the turret on the left side of your view and lower than the cross-hair. This is extremely disorienting for me because I'm so used to the barrel being on the right and in line with the cross-hair. I think that if the EU tanks had their barrels inline with the cross-hair it wouldn't be such a big problem for me. Though as it is now, I can't even drive the tanks without feeling like I'm driving blind, which makes me not want to play as EU at all. This is only one of the problems I have with the new patch.

Anyway, yeah, the Challenger 2 is a cool, but weird creature!

yer it is weird the first time you get into it, I got used to it after a few rounds of pummeling enemies in the Challenger 2, is a nice tank

but yes please observe the drive on the left rule, wouldn't want anyone getting hit head on by a tank now...or do we...

It's just weird you know? All other BF games had the barrel of the turret on the right. Changing it to the left side on the Challenger 2 I understand since the UK is all left hand side of the road, but the Leopard 2 should have the barrel on the right like the other tanks in my opinion. All this could be solved possibly by having the barrel in the middle of your view on all tanks, but that may become a problem with balance because the turret creates a blind spot that anyone can exploit. Though I won't know until I see it.

One thing that could be fixed for another patch if we are lucky to get one is for DICE to just put the barrel inline with the cross-hair. I am sure that would go a long way to fixing the disorienting affect.

How is it disorienting? The bullets and shells spawn from the middle of the HUD, the turret is only there for the looks.

The only thing I dislike about the Challenger 2 is unlike all other tanks in BF2, you cannot see the front end from the HUD, which can get a little tricky if you are attempting to maneuver a tight spot, or hill grade. Minor thing really, but it reminds me of the Tunguska AAA in that regard.

Yeah, not being able to see the front of the tank is weird when trying to make tight turns on Great Wall. You have to go by the little animation in the HUD to show which way you're pointing.

The only thing I dislike about the Challenger 2 is unlike all other tanks in BF2, you cannot see the front end from the HUD, which can get a little tricky if you are attempting to maneuver a tight spot, or hill grade.

That is probably the biggest part of it being disorienting for me.

yeh I found myself looking at the HUD diagram a lot in the challenger, is that how it is on the real tank? As in, is the camera in a realistic spot?

I remember getting in one and thought my controls were screwed up until I realised I wasn't even pointed the right way, massive fail

I'm sure the Challenger feels faster than other tanks in the game, or am I just imagining it?

The Challenger looks terrible in EF, nothing like the real thing.

Exactly, same thing happened when I got in the little bird but I realised the dam falcon support had screwed up keyboard only lol
