Joint Operations (Vista) frustration....

2006 I played JO and had a ball. Now, I reinstall the game and no matter what I do I can't host. Opened every port shown for the game on every forum. Tried shutting off virus software. Set up as XP and running as Admin. All the tricks I could think of I used with past games (and, no, I don't have a router.) I keep getting a message from NovaWorld (number 3234) that there is an error in hosting. The funny thing is my son also just reloaded the game and he is getting the same message.

Vista on a high-end Alienware machine. No problems with other games.

Has anyone seen or heard of this problem from others?

in the game.cfg edit the lines:
internet_adress = "0.0.0.0" (should be whatever IP you have. In cmd type ipconfig to find your IP)
mpipadressstring = "0.0.0.0" (same as above)

only port you need open is 32768 unless you have changed it yourself

Here is something interesting. As mentioned, both my son and I receive the code 3234 every time we try to host. After trying every fix in the book I noted that Punkbuster was grayed out. Remember, this is JO: Combined Arms that came out just 3 weeks ago with both the game and the expansion.

Since I understand you can't host without Punkbuster that sounds like our problem...but I also understand Punkbuster is no longer supported for this game (checked both the NovaLogic and Punkbuster sites to try to find more info...no luck). Put in the disc again and tried the "repair" feature, checking the Punkbuster block...no joy, still grayed out. I've sent an e-mail to NovaLogic to see if I can get any more information on this. Does anyone else have the Combined Ops disc that came out 3 weeks ago, and, if so, can you host? This is driving me nuts.

You have to update punkbuster manually with JO. You just have to remove your old punkbuster folder and replace it with this one. http://www.zshare.net/download/64990740cdc26e49/ . Make a backup of your old one ofcourse.

This to me sounds like a port issue. Are you sure you don't have some sort of firewall in the way? Could be the windows firewall blocking.

When you install JO: combined arms you end up with no PB folder.

ok....thats odd. Well just place my folder in the same folder as the JointOps.exe.
