If you look at teh slides on the link, it says "Current and Future". Also graphics will not be changing all the much in the next years. Ofcourse there will be some small changes with Dx11 coming, but it won't change the game. Crysis changed the game back then and Crytek said themselves that graphics will not change dramatically.

Also DICE has said themselves that the BF engine will be used for future BF games. So expect DICE to be using the engine for quite some time.
You may be right. Crysis was a revolution but a few years before that there was Doom 3 which was another revolution. So why not another? Just because the Crysis guys say there wont be doesn't mean they are right. Would they be happy if another engine came along and blew the Crysis engine out of the water? No, of course they're not gonna admit that some of the competition is going to bring something out better than theirs.
FROSTBITE is no where near the level of the graphics that Crysis has so its already got a long way to go to catch up. If Battlefield were to be released in 2 - 3 years time (speculation of course) then the engine would be 4 - 5 years old and looking really dated.

My point is that you said "Dx11 WILL be used for BF3 on the Frostbite 2.0 engine". Now given that there's no release date for BF3 or hardly any information at all surely it would be better to write "I think that BF3 will use the FROSTBITE 2 engine and DX11" as some of the people on here seem to beleive anything that people write.

Also just because DICE said they would use it for future games doesn't automatically mean that it will be used for BF3 either. We don't know what DICE has planned, maybe they meant Mirrors Edge 2?

Either way I'm sure BF3 be a great game

Valid statement. You could be right. The thing is we don't know how FB 2.0 with Dx11 will look like. You can't really assume since we haven't seen too much of Dx11. We don't know how the engine will progress over the years. Another thing is that DICE can't just use or make another engine. It cost money to make a brand new engine, which I thing personally the FB engine is awesome. In my opinion, I don't think DICE wants to make the best looking game in the market either. I know the engine will be older when BF3 releases, but that doesn't mean it won't progress and each time and get better. Not many game have Full destruction so I'm sure that'll affect some visuals. Anywho I think BC2, BF3, and future games will look awesome.

Do you remember the older games we used to play? How could we have played with those ****ty graphics, lol. I know you might say, graphics don't make the game. But graphics do make a difference.

Yeah Battlefield has never been at the cutting edge of graphics. Probably because of the player count and now all the destruction going on. But as you say, graphics dont make a game but they do make a difference. Battlefield to me has always had graphics good enough to get by but the gameplay is really what makes it such an awesome game.

It'll be interesting to see how it looks on DX11 anyway. Although It'll mean I'll have to buy a new PC as I've neglected it for games since I got a PS3 as it was cheaper than upgrading my PC all the time.

My PC is ready for BC2 :) . All I need to upgrade is my speakers, they are getting old and since BC2 will have awesome sound, I need to upgrade to get the full effect. I do agree with you on that battlefield has never been all about graphics, it's always been about gameplay, which makes battlefield one of the best and long lasting games out there. I hope BC2 has some depth and variety to it, I want to play it over and over again.

My lil bro is getting a 360 for his birthday and I've been wondering if I should get BC2 for console as well. I mean it's more expensive and I will most likely be playing on the PC more. I'll have to see though, if my bro likes BC2 on PC, then I'll get it for him on console.

So will it look on par or better than Crysis?

To be honest I don't think it will look as good as Crysis. As said before, Battlefield has destruction and a high player count to consider for online play and this has to have a detrimental effect on graphics. I don't know a lot about Crysis multiplayer as I've never played it but I'm sure it doesn't have to handle the amount of players that Battlefield does.

BC2 will look great! Supposedly it looks on par with Killzone, but you can never take gaming journalist too seriously. They may thing one way, and we may completely disagree. Personnally what makes BC2 look a lot better than BC1 is the grain filter thing. BC2 looks more clean, more polished, better landscapes, new renderrer for particle effects, etc. BF3 will most likely look more detailed. In a video talking about the new ATI cards with dx11, it was said that terrain and objects will look more detailed. You know how terrain looks flat sometimes, this time it'll look 3D.

All we know is that BC2 and BF3 will look great, hopefully gameplay will what the real focus is at.

32 players (and vehicles), on maps that are roughly the same size as BF2's.

They are taking the easy way out by scaling down the game to account for destruction, I don't have a problem with that personally as I prefer lower player limits but part of the PC BF games charm is the really large scale battles.

Yea... Thats why I always play Gold Rush, conquest mode in BC right now is boring.

Fair enough. But still Battlefield has 64 players which is twice as much as Crysis and so it will probably still have to accommodate this by reducing graphics in order to make the game run smoothly with this amount of players.

I do agree with you that large scale battles are what makes Battlefield so special. I prefer 48 or 64 player games but since moving to a PS3 after playing BF2 and 2142 to death I really miss the large scale battles. Not to say it isn't fun but I think the larger amount of players increases the randomness of the game and in turn helps with the longevity.

There is a huge difference in performance between 32 and 64 players in BF2.
