The only thing I hate about karkand is The US base is closer to the hotel so they have tanks there faster.

That's a big part of the map balance, though. The fact that the USMC team starts with all their vehicles at the front lines balances out the fact that they start out with no flags and must go on the offensive against an opponent that has its defense set up.

To be honest, I don't want to see any of the old maps redone. It's not that I don't like what we've got already, but after so many years of them I think we really need a fresh start!

There will be a Karkand style map, without a doubt. Why would EA DICE alienate the pretty substantial player base that play that map day in day out?

And you should probably expect the IO mode type to make a return as well, it's just part of the culture now and there really isn't a easy way to go back. I like playing with and without vehicles, for me it just changes the game up a bit and gives it a little more life.

The question is if they add an additional map from BF2/Previous BF games like they have done, would you rather have Wake or Karkand? :dead:

This map, in my opinion, beats Karkand for point whoring. God or whoever is up there please save us all if this bottlenecked genocidal map makes a return in any shape or form. Hate it with a passion.

The thing with maps like Karkand, Wake, Camp-G, etc... is that whatever gets people into a server is what will be played. People want to have a populated server as well as good maps in rotation that everyone doesnt mind playing.

Even if they do take out Karkand/Wake style maps, there is just going to be something else to take its place. I dont think there will be a way around that unless every map is almost the same, which wouldn't be too much fun.

Yep, it's either a case of raise the level of every map to the 'quality' (and I use the term lightly) of Wake/Karkand or the lower these two maps to the same quality as the rest.

Simples.

Though obviously people are always going to have favourites, so my comments aren't really ever going to work in practice.

Wake is fine when its balanced and annoyances removed (constant base rape)

I think there should be an island assault type map, always liked Midway as well in 1942

but some redesign work and some good thinking could make an awesome map

I want Karkand and Gibraltar in BF3 they were great maps though vehicles should be removed from Karkand its an awesome IO map and I will always want to play it as Wake which is a great creation I want it in if Jets are in BF3

making a similar style map to karkand ( not the start with 1 base, other team has all the bases style but a huge urban map where infantry gameplay is key to winning) will easily get tons of players to get back into the new bf3. They could just say right on the game case KARKAND REMADE and it would sell more copies probably.

I enjoy those maps though, just because it doesn't have armor doesn't mean its not battlefield, because it still embodies the teamwork and squad play needed to win, just cause its not your style doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the game. The community of battlefield that only loves infantry style urban maps is just as big as the community that only plays huge air/armor maps, and its what makes the game have lots of fun for everyone.


If any map should be re-made for battlefield 3 I think it should be Suez Canal for battlefield 2142, a great map that starts as a stalemate, great armor fights, great air fights, and anyone who wants to snipe or run as medic can get some points pretty easily too.

Don't know why, but i just despise Karkand because it's so overplayed.
