I switched to PC gaming just over a year ago, and bought BF2 after enjoying the BF games on Xbox (even though the PC versions and console versions were completely different, BF2:MC was one of the best games of it's time on Xbox).
Although I still cannot get into BF2.
I force myself to play it, and I keep telling myself "This game still has 20,000+ active players for a reason, it must be good!", but I still get frustrated and just end up ragequitting most of the time.
So far, this has been my BF2 experience:
Every server is either IO Karkland or Dragon Valley.
On Karkland, the beginning is basically raining grenades, non-stop. Never-ending grenade spam.
If you see an enemy and begin firing at them, they will either bunnyhop like mad and intentionally mess up their hitboxes (even though the hitboxes and hitreg are already terrible in the first place), making it pretty much impossible to kill them, or they will dolphin dive and kill you before they've even touched the ground.
If you manage to bypass the grenade spam and sneak around the edge of the map, the commander on the opposing team will conveniently place a UAV right near you, so as soon as you look up and see "UAV" in red lettering, you might as well commit suicide because you can't hide, and you're not going to survive the inevitable 10+ bunnyhopping dolphin-diving grenade spammers who just simply follow the big blinking red dot to hunt you down (or, if you do manage to escape the UAV and hide, the opposing team can just scan the horizon while spamming Q+M1 and easily reveal the location of any enemies, regardless of how far away they are).
Nobody really seems to work as a team, either. It just seems everyone kinda goes off and does their own thing. Sure, you'll see medics and support spamming health kits and ammo kits, but that's the only teamwork I've seen so far.
On Dragon Valley (or most maps that have vehicles), if you're not in a tank or apc, you're screwed. If you're in a tank or apc, prepare to get raped by jets and barrel-rolling Cobras.
Is there something I'm missing here? I honestly just cannot get into this game, no matter what I do. I've read plenty of guides, watched videos, etc. and I just keep getting very frustrated.
I want to enjoy this game, so does anyone have any tips on what I could possibly do to enjoy it?
